Bentley continues to do well. He has had a bout of loose stools the past few weeks. The lab found excessive amounts of salmonella and clostridium. The vet put him on Flagyll, Baytril, and a probiotic. It's slow going but his stools are getting better. As many of you know, he came into rescue positive for Lyme. He's been thru 2 rounds of doxy. The first round didn't seem to do anything, but the 2nd round helped. His numbers went from 87, to 93, and now down to 54. A number under 30 would be the best, but we would at least like to see a 2-fold improvement in the number, which we haven't quite seen. So when his gut is back to normal, we'll probably hit him with another round of doxy. You might also remember that his protein-creatine ratio was high and he showed protein in his urine. Latest tests showed his protein-creatine levels back in the normal ranges. His urine protein levels were 3x and now are 2x, so we're making progress there. He's still a little weak in his hind end, but we tried laser on him today and he tolerated it very well. So we'll be continuing that. And we'll probably try Adequan shots, too. He got a bath today just in time for Thanksgiving and I wanted to share a pic I just took. And I wanted to personally thank you all for voting for him in the rescue contest. The contest doesn't end until Nov. 30th, so if you haven't voted, please do. And if you could, please share the contest link so others can vote. Thank you so much and Happy Thanksgiving!! |
