I have never had a female sheepie - on 4th male. When we noticed he hadn't been doing a good enough clean job when a puppy I trimmed the fur to leave a clearer access to the area for him. I do a "willy trim" and on the insides of his legs when needed to keep short and clean. If fur gets to long then gets licked it easily gets very knotty and difficult to trim so keeping the are short lets air in and pee out!! |

I have had mostly females and I keep the vulva area and surrounding areas short. I use either a #10 or #7 blade. All of my girls have done a good job taking care of themselves. However, if I noticed the dogs were paying too much attention to the area, digging, I would use a baby wipe and if any icky discharge, I take a urine sample and dog to the Vet. |
