My plan? Every 20 min , indoors, yes, I will carry hin or her out the first bits, faster the better, will plan on placing the crate where I sleep, I am a late nighter, so last potty for me would be about midnight. Give me your stories! |

We crated both our current dogs as pups, Mooka is 3 and now never crated Picker is a year and still crated as he's a handful of a dog and likes to eat things lol. Crate training helped with Potty training SO MUCH, I work from home so I take pups out ever 30-45 minutes when young, though I will say Mooka had little control till 5 months old, vet checked regularly and he said just some dogs develop slower. My old roommate once watched him for me when I had to leave town and he wasn't working as a service dog at the time as he was young and they didn't listen to me when I said he can't hold his pee very long yet, and they had her mother over and he peed on her, I never heard the end of it and it makes me laugh to this day |
I expected it to be a lot harder, but Harry is a breeze to potty train! He goes into the crate to nap, brings his favorite things into it, and even though the bully stick have him bad diarrhea he never once pooped in the house! I am using the crate for nighttime, and he sleeps til 6am, sometimes gets up once around 2am, but he puts himself to bed by 10pm the latest, so that's not too bad! I crate him for every nap, and when I have something to do and I cannot watch him. We are very lucky he whines and goes to the door when he had to potty. He will be 11 weeks tomorrow, and we love him to bits! Thankfully he absolutely loves the cold and snow, we have dropped to -25c With a -38 wind chill and he does not hesitate one bit, even in 60km winds! Tomorrow we all go look for our tree, so will be piling into the Bogan and skidooing out. He loves the machine. |
It's 60 here today and I'm like.... I want snow, Officially jealous of your puppy! He sounds like he's doing awesome Potty training! We plan to bell train the new pup so we have a clear signal of "OH PUPPY NEEDS OUT!!" |
No snow here pleeeeeeease |
I tried bell training with my terrier, my OCD would cause my brain to hear the bell all night, we don't use collars after last per here, can't stand noises! They do learn fast tho, even my pyr used to ring it like mad! |
