I did a forum search and was surprised that not much came up. I expected this would be a hot topic! Does anyone have a favorite shampoo? Or perhaps, is there much of a difference between pet shampoos? I came across "Best Shot Ultra Wash" that says that it's made for double-coat dogs. Anyone familiar with it? I want to avoid anything with strong perfumes. Our pup just has a 6 month old coat so far, but I plan out keeping her in full coat like my previous oes. She isn't going on the show dog circuit, just a regular old adorable oes who likes to get dirty. Thanks! Nick & Martha |

We used to buy it by the gallon (and lots of other stuff) from cherrybrook...I haven't looked for a long time but they used to have great prices . However I don't think I ever compared them to amazon https://www.cherrybrook.com |
I've made my own shampoo for my last 4 sheepdogs (about 15 years). I usually make a half gallon at a time. 2 parts: Good quality Hand soap such as one with Aloe (large refills are cheap from warehouse stores) 1 part: White Vinegar 1 part: water add 1oz/quart Glycerin (inexpensive, leaves fur nice and soft) optional: A drop of lavender oil (or other scented oil) Smells a little like vinegar while using it but not after rinsing. |
I personally like Vets Best Anti itch? and the Bio Groom Oatmeal Shampoos. Both brands clean really well, leaves the coat very nice and silky AND they don't have the heavily perfumed or fruity fragrances like many others. I have a very big problem with fragrance with a tendency to break out and sneeze. I DO like and might try the recipe for the other shampoo. I also like Paul Mitchells Whitening shampoo for dogs because it really makes the white bright. |
