Truth be told our puppy cuts usually just started as a shave down after winter and grew out from there. I did it a handful of times myself with our Oster clippers and skiptooth and finishing blades like a #10. It was a really big job, even with a grooming table. It was just easier down on the carpeted floor over the course of a few sessions. We had a wonderful groomer. She did charge at least $70, but it was worth it to me. |
Thanks for the reply. I have always done all our pups on the floor, be it kitchen or living room. Does mean more vacuuming!! Sometimes use the old garden table but only when warm nuff for me to be out without a cardigan. xx |
I kept Oscar in a puppy cut also. For the first few years, I took him to the groomer regularly, but he kept getting sick afterwards (IBD flare-ups, etc.) So I bought my own Andis clippers and did it myself. Before Oscar started with the mobility issues, I would use a #10 blade with a 1 inch guide, and he would stand for the shave. I always scissored his head, legs and belly. Once he had trouble standing, I would clip him while he was laying down. I would shave his back and scissor him everywhere else. In the last year when he really struggled. I just used the scissors. I did buy some clippers but all my oes have been scared of them!! 2nd one, Sweep was ok having his "hair dried" with hair dryer until he was about 1 year old then he to was scared of any thing near him. As we race motorbikes they have all slept next to a bike starting and that sort of noise. One of them sat and watched at a tractor pulling competition, folk couldn't believe it, but go near with razor and they off. xx |
Funny...odd but funny! |
