I think this might be what Lisa's girl was diagnosed with. I'll email her and ask her to get in touch if it is the same thing. Mim |
Hi my brie had the same at 8 years old, it is a benign tumour epulis but can be aggressive as in growing huge in the mouth but does not mastitsise to other parts. If you go back on my posts here on the forum you will find photos of the growth in her mouth as well as what it can grow too if not addressed. Not your normal type of epulis, has to quite a aggressive surgery to get it all otherwise it gets enormous. Brie was 8 when diagnosed, she had it on her lower jaw, vet took out her lower canine, few teeth either side plus shaved the jaw bone underneath. Sounds drastic but she coped well with the procedure to make sure we got it all. After surgery soft food till all healed up. She was 8 at the time and went on to live a happy healthy life till 13 1/2 and could still crunch through hard bikkies, bones etc without any problems. Don't panick even though it sounds bad it is one that does not spread and is contained in the mouth but does need addressing with bit more radical surgery then just the normal type of epulis. Best wishes it will be OK. I am pretty sure cant quite remember the exact name of her epulis, as was awhile ago but am pretty sure it is the same one she had. Talk to your vet about best options there, regardless even just a normal epulis has to come out. |
