I am just starting a chat to see if anyone has experience with this mix? I just picked out a puppy whose mother is a Komondor and whose father is an OES. I especially would like to know what their coats end up like when they are adults. |

That might be a toss up. Just like traits of any mixed breed you find from the pounds to the rescues, there would be no breed standard. Good luck |

Because if it is, you need to run (not walk) away. They have a very bad reputation. Please see this thread for more details. viewtopic.php?f=14&t=37059&hilit=feathers+and+fleece |
No my puppy is not from feathers and fleece. I did see them when I was doing my research but decided to go to a local breeder. I guess I'm glad I did not go with them now.... My breeder has a small operation but has been breeding OES for I want to say 50 years. I actually visited the puppies and met the parents of my pup. From what I could tell they were great breeders and new a lot about OES. However, this is their first Komondor and their first litter with her. They are excited about how the puppies will turn out but they didn't have a lot of information on my puppies future coat or temperament due to the fact that they have no experience with this mix. I also looked all over the internet to find a Komondor/OES and could not find any pictures or information about this mix. They mentioned that it might have a Sheepadoodle type coat but they aren't positive. Ether way I'm excited to find out! But if anyone has any experience with this mix I would love to hear about it! |
I cannot imagine a good breeder wanting to start breeding mixes. Do they do any testing? Are the parents hips and eyes checked? What are their bloodlines? Are they listed on the OFA records? look here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=33753 Here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2867 There are many questions you should ask - these are a good start. The coat is a toss up - I'd be worried about other stuff myself. Shellie |

Micah, I bet our Sadie is a sibling of your puppy. Her mom was the komondor and her father an OE Sheepdog. This breeder is a longtime breeder. Has a good reputation. A komondor is referred to as an Hungarian Sheepdog. I would love to see your puppy. We love Sadie and everyone else does too. |
I would guess we have a sibling of both of your Komondor/OES puppies. We have a Sadie too. Would love to see pictures of your pups! |
I posted about our Sadie too. Sounds like she could be a sibling! |
I am guessing we have a sibling of your dogs too. And our’s happens to be a Sadie! |
Our Sadie was the runt if the litter. She is around 83 pounds. Very loving dog. Did anyone happen to have their dogs hips x-rayed? We were thinking of breeding Sadie. Hips pictures came back when she was 2 years old with some hip dysphasia. I informed breeder. Conversation didn’t go well. I personally will not be getting another puppy from them. |
Hello! I’m taking a shot in the dark on this old thread, as it is the only info I’m finding in this mix... there is an OES/Komondor mix at my local shelter in Exeter Ri. He is just under a year old was surrendered due to his size and strength. I have no experience with either breed but have a Great Dane currently so size is no issue for me. I’m wondering about temperament and the coat as he matures. I would love a stunning dreaded dog but obviously is not a dealbreaker. Any info would be greatly appreciated! |
I fell in love with cooper at first sight. We had a 12 yr oes and a15 yr komondor. They were like children to us. We lost them both to old age and fell in love with cooper. We have no other pets or kids. We have a very large home with six foot iron fence. Please keep my name and number and communicate with me about your dog. If you would be willing to sell him to us. He would get a happy forever home. We know how to train komondor. We would pay a great price for him and drive to ri to get him. I saw your post and knew immediately that it was cooper. My name is Deborah Beane in NC. My number is 3363401337. My email is dhb101@aol.com. your post was a blessing. We've prayed about this and would greatly appreciate your kind consideration. |
