List of good veggies and fruits for your pupper

P.S.A~~~ :hearts: With Wynn, being a puppy and getting mucho treats for doing anything but breathing...I wanted to switch both Willow and Wynn to more healthy treats~ the link below from the AKC gave me the information I needed to supplement the dog treats for veggies and fruits..

I thought some of you would like the list:

Did I miss green beans on the list? I know of people mix beans in with dog food to bulk it up.
My guys LOVE baby carrots. Can't get enough of them.

Zeke will eat any fruit or veggie you put in front of him.
Brick's a little more picky. He'll eat carrots, cooked green beans, oranges, cherries, watermelon (LOVES watermelon) and probably a few others I'm forgetting.
no...you didn't miss them, Paula..there were a few missing and I am not sure why..but I know there are more that should be on the list like~~ peas and green beans are great for dogs..frozen or fresh..stay away from anything canned unless you know there is no added salt and or sugar...
Aside from the obvious such as grapes, onions and avocados (and garlic) I've pretty much let the dogs decide what they wanted. I mention garlic because our vet goes on a rampage about garlic and blood clotting. I've read the reports so no longer do I let them munch on the stinky stuff. Basil, our St.B ate our entire garlic harvest one year, we rushed him to the vet's and the vet med hospital, the only affect they could find was he stunk for a few days. So I assume the garlic goes with weight of dog.

We used the green bean diet to take sixty or more pounds off Glacier when we readopted her. (we were foster parents, she went away and came back 5 years later, permanently)

Jack could smell a banana from across the county line. The first week here he rushed me when I unpacked bananas from the grocery sack. Adoptees are always so interesting.

Sam was Mr. Broccoli. Period.

Etc.

This one will eat anything except celery. I suspect she knows the fibers could cause her problems. I can get chopped celery down her..............a bit. She is absolutely bonkers for anything in the cabbage family. I should call her Ms. Brussels Sprout.
Now that clementine's are in season, we have to be careful. She no longer tries to eat the rind, but beware, one has to share the sections with her or risk her wrath.
Avocado?
No tomatoes? Totally off as far as I am concerned. Who would give
a dog the plant part of the tomato? Why would anyone do that? It's
from the nightshade family and is poisonous to people as well. I give
my dogs more tomatoes than anything else - and in fact was told to
do this by a very reputable breeder.
I guess it's an incomplete, semi ok list - but I just think they are way off
with the tomatoes...and who gives a dog cherry pits? oh well, I guess
it's just me.
