Meiobian cyst?

Hi there! I haven't posted in some time, but I'm hoping you all can give me advice. Ecco has what looks like a meiobian cyst on her eyelid that has been growing over the last few months. Here's what it looks like:

So, it clearly rests on the eyeball. What you can't see from here is that it extends up into her eyebrow area. In total, about one centimeter long. The vet said he didn't want to do anything until it was either bothering her or approaching taking up 1/3 of the eyelid. She's recently been having some discharge from that eye and it looks like it was bleeding a bit. (She may have scratched the cyst, causing it to bleed.) Have any of you had experience with this kind of thing? Should I be pushing the issue with the vet or should I just not worry about it?

Thanks!
Kerry

Oscar grew one of these (plus a number of adenomas) around his eyes and had multiple surgeries to remove them.

My vet had a bit of a different take. To begin with, we just watched them. If they started to grow quickly, or take on weird shapes, we took them out while they were small. The surgery is easy enough, it's the necessity of keeping them from rubbing when they have the stitches that is no fun.

This does look like it is right on Ecco's eyeball. I just keep thinking about how uncomfortable it is when I get something in my eye, so that must be rubbing every time Ecco blinks. I am certain that my vet would intervene at this point and want to remove the growth now, rather than allowing to get larger and require removing more eyelid.

This week I took Ecco back to the vet for her eyelid. The last couple of weeks she has had days when the tumor opened up and bled. Not terribly, but enough that it was visibly irritating the eye. I thought at first that she was scratching at it, but yesterday during the day it started bleeding and she hadn't been messing with it at all. The vet has her scheduled for surgery to remove the tumor now. He's worried (a little at least) about the possibility of squamous cell carcinoma. Her surgery is October 19th. I'm going to be crossing my fingers until then.
Paws and fingers crossed that it is just one of those weird benign bumps dogs get sometimes.
Fingers crossed for a good outcome and speedy recovery :crossed:
