Does anyone have a suggestion to save my babies head coat ? I was thinking about trying to slick it down somehow with some kind of bitter or maybe some tea tree oil. |

How are you doing the 3mo. old's hair now? If you look through the pics you will see I added a Great Dane pup. She and Steel are attached at the hip. When she was little, o.k. younger HAHA she used to bury herself in his hair to keep warm. Now that she seems to be able to regulate her body temp better she just chews on his hair. I keep his body fairly short but love to keep his head, ears and tail very long. He has a top knot. Poor Steel's top knot is like an open invitation for play! She dive bombs his head and just chews and pulls on it. If I am going to be away for a couple days on a trip or unable to brush him everyday to make sure there are no matts or knots I I I I didn't put there I french braid his hair so it is tight and low to his scalp. This incorporates most of the hair on his head so his ears don't get matted either. The hair doesn't need to be very long for this just pull as much as you can to keep it safe and tucked away. If you remove the rubber band carefully from the bottom it shouldn't snap the ends of the hair off and you will still have pretty hair left. |
Don't use 100% tea tree oil as it is toxic to dogs. Stick with products made to prevent chewing. You could try using a shot of water from a spray bottle when the older guy starts pulling at the pup's hair. melissa-m wrote: My 11 year old oes has taken to eating my 3 month olds head coat when they play.
