I'm new to the forum and just wanted to ask a random question. My OES, Max, is right at 8 months old but only weighs 38 pounds. From reading a lot of other comments it sounds like he is the smallest OES ever. Does anyone have any thoughts on how big he will top out if he is only at 38 pounds at 8 months? He is perfectly healthy and has the best personality so it really doesn't matter how big he gets. Just curious. |

Max is still a puppy, so there's time for him to put a little weight on. From what I've seen, it seems OESs can vary quite a bit in height & weight. My Zeke is about 23-24 inches at the shoulders and weighs about 60 lbs. He's a small guy. |
Our puppy Ozzie will be 6 months at the end of May. We weighed him last weekend and he was at 57pounds then. I can't even imagine 38. You can count on your puppy filling out some even up to 2 years but he does seem a bit small. Some OES are wider across the back and I think that makes a big difference. Our Ozzie isn't very tall yet but he is very solid and very wide. Have you asked your breeder about this? I am very curious what they might say. Shellie |
Our boy, McCartney is six months old and weighs around 55 lbs. OES puppies grow quickly the first year. Check with your breeder to check the size of the parents. How much are you feeding him? McCartney eats six plus cups per day, and has kibble for training too. |
I met his dad who was 100 pounds and his mom who was 75 when I picked him up. He was in a litter of 12 and seemed to be the smallest of the pups. |
