Sam's Homemade 'Do

I love the look of a longer coat, and I'm a sucker for the top knot look :aww: ...but I just can't stay on top of a longer coat with all we have going on. So, I decided to try my hand at giving Sam a puppy cut. I've shaved him down before, but wanted to keep a little more length. The groomer at our vet's office had told me that Sam's hair was too thick for a guard. Well, I'm stubborn, so I decided to find out for myself. Turns out, the groomer was wrong. So, here's Sam's new 'do. And I'm excited that I can save the money I was paying the groomer. :phew:

You did a nice job. I have a very good groomer, she does her best to keep Butchy in a puppy cut.

Thanks! I have had a couple of bad experiences with groomers here. I found a good one who doesn't think sheepies either need to be shaved down or made to look like poodles 8O , but she's about 40 minutes away. It'll be nice to not have to drive there and find ways to pass the time while I wait.
WOW great job!!! When I've done Tonks & Luna myself, its way less smooth and consistent looking. Your work looks marvelous!
Looks Great!!! :clappurple: What size guard and blade did you use? My Macie Grace has the thickest coat of all the 7 sheepies that owned me. I wind up doing a full body scissors on her (and Oliver). And I have to do it in stages because she isn't the most cooperative.

Thanks! It's that darn perfectionist streak. Bless his heart, every once in a while I see a stray hair and make him stand still while I get the scissors and snip it.

Thanks! I used a #10 blade with a 1 1/2 inch guard. There were a few spots where his hair was almost too thick to just run the clippers over easily, but if I did a smaller section at a time, it worked fine. I tried scissoring, but it was driving me crazy that I couldn't get it to look smooth. :twitch: I used the same guard on his whole body except his face. I just trimmed that up a bit with the scissors.
He looks great. :aww:
You did a great job. I'm working on Nonc and he doesn't look anywhere near as good.
