My 5yr girl has been diagnosed with Evans Syndrome (yesterday). A month ago she was tested for IMHA blood was 14% and it all came back negative further tests found she had a foreign object in her stomach which was removed by surgery. Not sure what the item is, looks like a mouth guard. She did great after the op and ten days ago had her stitches out and her blood was 34%. Monday she was tested again and it was 18%, put straight on steroids, yesterday the tests came back with ITP too. Obviously I have been researching this all night and will be calling the vet this morning regarding tick diseases as she did have a bite 12mths ago. I might be clutching as straws but if it is then she can be treated for that and everything else might clear up. I am here to ask if any others have Evans Syndrome experience please. I am in the UK |

I am sorry that you are dealing with all of these health issues. I have no experience with Evan's Syndrome itself, other than Oscar being tested for ITP and IMHA about 8 years ago, but both came back negative. Oscar has Immune Mediated Disease, manifesting itself in Lymphacytic/Plasmacytic IBD, autoimmune pancreatitis, and chronic, drug-resistant skin infections. Prednisone has saved his life on more than one occasion, side effects not withstanding. Thinking good thoughts for Charly....... Laurie and Oscar (12.5 years-old) |
I'm sorry to hear about the health issues. I don't know much about Evan's except that is more prevalent in OES (female)mand some other breeds. And prognosis is variable and as with most thongs better the earlier it is diagnosed. Good luck |
