A Newbie

Hi anyone in UK (or anywhere else) on this forum - I'm new here. This is my first post - not even registered on Facebook! I live in Suffolk in the UK and at present don't have a dog - however I am registered with various OES rescues and with various local sheepie breeders. It is taking longer than we thought to find a dog - nearly five months now. As we are older (ish) folk we don't want a very young puppy as we would rather take on an adult girl. We had sheepies throughout the seventies to the noughries and can't bear to be without one for much longer. Anyone know of a little girl who needs a home in the East Anglia region of the UK ?. Love to hear from anyone with info. Many thanks. :wag:

I live in Canada, so am not much help in finding an OES for you, but wanted to wish you luck!
Good luck in your search....please post pics when you find your new baby.
Thank you! Here's hoping.....!
Fully understand need for an adult dog and frustration of the wait. Don't turn down boys, they can be a bit more goofy and just as loveable. I was pretty much a "girl" dog person until the boys arrived and sure made life a lot more interesting! Anymore, I don't care, fuzzbutt is a fuzzbutt no matter the plumbing.

Best quote ever.
Fab quote! Had several male dogs over the years but mostly girls and they seemed more loving somehow. Would only turn down a male if he was TOO big....my OH definitely wants a girl tho. Have to wait and see. Cross everything for us! Fuzzbutt too!
Welll..........it was the boys who crawled into bed with me, the girl sheepie snuggled with DH..........one bed for awhile until I decided I needed more room and Harry and Jack followed. Each one is different, maybe the bitches gravitate to men first and the dogs to women......
I love that story...sounds like a good idea to me :| ...I would dearly love to have more than one but I think that's not likely in the world of rescue...I live in the UK and there are so few up for rehoming through rescue and those that are up for sale (for whatever reason) are very quickly taken. I just hope that they don't end up as breeding machines in puppy farms/mills. I have sent emails in answer to every ad I've seen and people don't even reply. Very disheartening ...but must keep trying! Good to hear from you again.
Welcome and good luck finding your next pup!!
Thank you - still wishing and hoping - to quote what used to be a well known song back in the sixties. Yes I am THAT old....
Welcome! Any news on your search?
Thankyou! No nothing yet but it's only been five months! Maybe another five and there will be .....
I too remember 'wishing and hoping'...................Have you contacted a breeder to see if they have any older sheepies they are no longer breeding, that need homes? Maybe they are so popular is because of the paint company plus at one time, Paul McCartney had one. Can't understand how anyone could just have one. I have had a total of 7, not all at once and the last 3 were rescues. Good luck on your search and sheepies are awesome dogs! :clappurple: GOOD CHOICE!!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :yay: :yay: :yay:
Funnily enough we have had seven too - again not all at the same time. We had four at one point in the late seventies/early eighties...... Have contacted a few breeders here in UK a couple of them were extremely helpful and have said they would contact me if they knew of any. A good point though perhaps I should try a few more a bit further afield. Will do that......
Have you managed to find a sheepie yet? I do hope so,we found it so hard to be without one when ours passed over. We are on number 4,1st one with a tail. That is something I have wondered about, when to old to have another pup? With a halti style collor for walking I think it has enabled older people to have younger dogs.xx I live in Kent. :tea: :wag:
No nothing yet but still trying. Thanks for asking. Have contacted breeders and recontacted rescue as mentioned elsewhere on the forum and although all were very helpful there are no Sheepies coming in to rescue in England anyway. Must be patient and my new friend will find me....
