Everymorning he has a little bit but it's a nightmare to clean. I tried buying baby eye solution and clean it with a bit of cotton but the liquid just doesn't penetrate his hair. Removing with fingers is hard and cutting the hair isn't an option (and dangerous) Surely there must be a way |

If you are getting more than normal eye gunk, then have the vet look at the eyes next time. Could be lashes are turned in causing irritation. You can use eye saline solution to loosen the gunk and then just a tissue is sufficient. |
Steel isn't a big fan of this but I can't stand to see black gunk in his eye's. Unlike my other 2 YESSS, it does get stuck in his eyeball hairs! His is dry though for the most part so it is easy to kind of pinch with my finger nails and slide off the end of his hairs without hurting him or poking him quickly. Sometimes he has a little wet stuff left afterwards very close to the corner of his eye and that just wipes away. If you try this with your fingers and not your finger nails you will pull the hair and your going to get a very disapproving look! |
Usually the stuff removes easily by combing with a fine toothed comb, such as a flea comb. |

Sprocket has lots of eye gunge usually daily. He doesn't like it removed much, he puts his head down in a stubburn "I am not here" way but when I lift up his nose he just lets me gently roll the dry stuff out and the damp comes away in a "stringy bit". He has to lick it off my fingers. xx |
