I realized late yesterday he had razor burn on his rear and undersides. I've tried various lotions and about 3am gave him a benedrill I had for the other dog. Later this AM I put aloe on the ears and rear. I'm wondering what else can be done for his extreme discomfort? Does he need to be seen by the vet, or will this pass in a couple of rough days? If the vet were to see him what can they do? This is a very bad downside of getting his coat off. I've got to replace this groomer. |

Bentley's got a few nicks from being shaved too. It was bound to happen, he was miserable from the mats and very squirmy.
We put antiobiotic ointment on them and the vet gave me antibiotics yesterday - just to be safe because one looked a little too deep for her liking. He's not bothered by any of them though. |
I would wait it out too. Agree with Floofdog about antibiotic ointment (available at drug stores) just in case. You might want to try a buffered aspirin for the pain vs. Benedryl though. Benedryl is good for bee stings or to calm your dog down a little since it's an antihistimine, not pain medicine.
And the blades get hot awfully fast. Not sure how often this happens, especially with larger hairy breeds. |
I happens to the best of us, and me too.

Thanks!
Think the worse is over now, Riley is still hiding, licking some, and I think plotting revenge for taking him to the groomer. Grammy is here for the summer and he's moved into her room. |
