One is black with white feet, two are grey tabbies from what i can tell. Leaving her to rest for the night. Just glad she let me get her in before it froze tonight. Surprised she didn't go find a spot in the storm drain out of the wind and weather. Maybe she knew I would find her and help her. Tinsley will be so happy in a couple of weeks when the babies are old enough to be introduced to her. Wish me luck in finding homes for them, and not at my house. |

It's nice you got them inside and she is allowing you to "quarter her" during this time. Would be nice to know if Mom Cat is free from FL so the babies have a chance at a life. And may Mom allow you to get her to the vet in the future. Tinsley will be so happy to have kittens again! |
As soon as they are old enough I will have them tested. And mom when I take her to be spayed. Since she is inside now, think she will be bonding with me even more. She has been purring very loudly when I go in and feed her and rub her head. I am leaving the babies alone but she did allow me to move one closer to her the day it was born...little bugger was crawling away....I also plugged one of those calming infuser things in the room to help as well. Thanks for not bashing me. I really did try to get her to vet in time. Yes. Tinsley will be thrilled. Will try to get pics in a month or so of her and the babies. |
We've had a feral around here called Blender. When neighbor picked her up to take to be spayed, the cat whirled, hissed, scratched like a blender. So well know how difficult it is to handle them. |
Why would anyone bash you? You are going waaaay out of your way to help! Way more than I could do! Robert is epi-pen allergic to cats and Skye would kill one so if put in that situation I would have to call a friend to help (which I have done). I must say cats in your neighborhood do seem to know to come to your and Tinsley's house for help!!!! Haha! The way I see it you go way above the call of duty and you follow the job all the way through to the end with finding them a good home so there is no room for bashing only praise. |
Thanks Aleece. I thought because I didnt get her to the vet in time to get spayed. But she was a stray to begin with that I worked with months to get her to let me pet her head, then chin, then back. etc, I feel terrible about not getting her to vet. as we all know there are too many kitties and puppies. But you are right. I will find them homes rather than take to pound. My mechanics said I could put a pic up at his place when they are old enough to adopt out. So Thanks for encouraging words and thoughts. |
Heck, it's not your fault you couldn't catch her. You are caring for her, and now caring for her babies. That is rock star stuff! Maybe a bit of tranq when it is time for her to be spayed so you can get her in the carrier.... Tinsley will be so happy to have new babies! |
Mabel...you are a very kind and compassionate person for doing the things that you do (that many people would not) to help the helpless animals. No one in their right mind would or should ever bash you. In fact, we need more people that would take the extra step that you always seem to do with those animals in need. Good for you!!!! |
I hope you enjoy your little guests. Reminds me of the time DH was in hospital and I was home with the dogs when I heard a Meow! Not what you would expect around here. Went out and coming from under the shed were 4 homeless kittens surrounded by Jack, MO and Harry looking at the intruders with wonder. Day before I saw a squished cat on the road and put 2 +2. I enjoyed getting the little squirts fed and weaned and properly socialized with MO and Harry's help and later with DH. They stayed in the garage, climbing on boxes and having a wonderful time. Later we'd take them out the yards to play, but Bruno had a thing for Jack and would curl up between the big sheepdog's paws and fall asleep. First time Jack gave us the "What the ???" look. But mostly I cheered when they passed their blood test for FL and were accepted by a local no-kill sanctuary as they had been properly socialized. |
I have already been spreading the word about the babies. My neighbor two doors down works at a vet and she said she would try to help me find homes when it comes time . She will also help me socialize them with other people. Said i could bring them down when they are old enough and she and her husband would play with them some to get them used to other people besides just me. Got some neighborhood elderly ladies and some kids that i am going to ask to help as well. you know, just to pet them and hold them so they would be used to all kinds of people and noises. Mama kitty, i know, real original name from this summer of her and her kitties, Thunder, Cloud and Rainbow. Anyway she has been a great mom so far. Let me pick up the kitties , vet said go ahead for a minute or two to get them used to my smell. Little things sure do make loud noises to be so small. |
Yeah, little things do make a big noise when hungry or distressed. Still young, they sleep, eat and stumble. Will Mom play with you? The fishing pole with a feather on the end? Just sitting with her helps. Supplying her with food is making a big impression too Once on their paws, they'll want to explore, it's fun watching them figure out how to climb, jump, etc I'd just prefer the climbing not be up my leg. Sounds like you'll have good outside help getting these squirts on a good road. We can't forget the shaggy nursemaid as well. |
You are a sweet person to have stepped up and helped that momma cat. It will be fun to have some tiny kitties around for a while. |
