We are planning on taking my daughter for her college visit to University of Minnesota, this weekend. Our dilemma is whether to bring Buster with us on the road trip. If we do not bring him with us, then we have to leave the same day .. but if we take him we can stay an extra day so its easy on us regarding driving. We want to stay near the university. I found many hotels that are pet friendly, but my question is will they allow buster to stay in the hotel room by himself ( he will be crated, ofcourse), while we tour the campus and such. This is our first trip with him. If we dont take buster with us, we will leave him with our friend and my husband doesnt want to impose on them for two days. I also dont know if buster will be ok for 3-4 hours by himself. I hope im making sense. Thanks for helping me in advance. |

If you and your husband trust your friend enough to take care of Buster for one day or two hours, that means he must love Buster and would take great care of him. If I was sitting for a friend I would not mind an extra day at all. Thats what friends are for. And sitting for a sheepie???? Heaven !!!! I am guessing Buster has been around your friend and minds him/her ?? Probably will spoil Buster so much he wont realize you are gone..... |
most hotels do not want a dog left alone in a room unsupervised. You can call ahead and ask- I was at a Westin once that was so dog friendly that the staff went and got a howling dog from the room, took it for a walk, and then fed it a salmon dinner!!! |
Let us know how the weather is in MN. I lived in Minneapolis and worked at the university for one year. The only thing good that came from that year was my horse. Bought my beloved Bob in Minnesota. |
Let us know what you decided take him or leave with friend. And how trip was in general. Hope its a safe and happy journey. |
We travel with Benson regularly, and the only hotel chain I am aware of that allows you to leave your dog unattended is Extended Stay America. They will often take your cell phone number, so if case your dog gets too loud and disruptive they can call you, but we've never had an issue with Benson. Safe travels! |
