I have an 8 month old sheepdog and I have a 48 inch crate. I bought the larger crate to allow the dog ample room to get up and stretch and move about somewhat on the occasions that I crate him when I have to leave the house for a period of time to go shopping or run errands. I would hate for him to be cramped and uncomfortable. At 8 months I do not feel comfortable yet leaving him wander around the house looking for yummy things like table legs or cushions to chew on. He loves his crate as he thinks it is his personal cave where he brings his toys and actually goes in there by himself to take naps at times. Also I did not want to have to worry about purchasing another crate if he were to get too big for the 42 inch. Sometimes.....size does matter.... |
Thanks for the reply! Yours is a male it sounds like, and it seems they run quite a bit bigger than females. I think we'll be crating Rosie for a year or more when we're gone too until she's more able to handle the freedom around the house. Thanks again for the reply. |
