I can't get my dog back when she sees other dogs !!!

I am new to dog ownership and need advice from you experts!!! I am a new mummy to the most adorable Maggie Mae. She is now 7 months old and we have had her since she was 4months old. She has been the most amazing addition to our family and we are all totally in love. My problem is off the lead training (recall) she comes whenever I call her I take treats out and use a whistle to get her attention but if there is another dog anywhere in the park that's it she is gone !!!! She loves playing with other dogs and I don't mind if I allow her to, but I can't have her flying off whenever she sees another dog !!! I have been going to puppy class and the trainer says to do recall training somewhere quiet which I do and she responds well but so far this has not worked in the park! I'm getting to the point where I don't want to take her and it's no fun for me. She can't spend every outing on the lead or in the closed off area!! Am I expecting too much? Should I carry on with the training and hope she grows out of it? Help !!! :wag:

I think you're expecting too much. All pups run after squirrels, birds etc. they just want to play. Keep trying to train her. There is nothing wrong with off the leash dog parks. I wouldn't take the chance of having her off lead at this time. She could take off on you and get injured by a passing car
Thanks unfortunately in the UK there is no such thing as a dog park !!There is one fenced off area nearby (not for dogs but I have not been told off yet!) and luckily I have quite a big garden but I just think it's a bit boring for her going to the same place all the time , but your right it's better that than losing her or worse so I'll stick with the training! Just thought there might be some thing I am not doing right !!! 7months is still young and maybe too soon to expect her to come back when everything is so exciting I just can't wait to get out and explore the world with her !!!
Have you thought of purchasing something like a 50 ft lead so she can wonder a little bit but you still have her under control??
I did buy a training lead (20ft) a few months ago but I found it just gave her a chance to pick up some speed and then it yanked her back and that worried me in case she injured her neck. I think I will try an extendable lead as I can periodically stop it to prevent her running to fast and pinging back !!! Thanks
Forget the retractable leash. While they can be handy, if your dog isn't totally under your control they can be more dangerous than you can imagine. Keep working with the treats and recall and hire a trainer if things don't improve. If you've ever seen an injury inflicted by a retractable leash it would totally scare you away from considering one.
