How can you prove the dog is AKC if they do not give you the papers, even if he is fixed. Are they just saying he is AKC so they can charge more?? Go with your gut feeling...This sounds weird to me. That is just my opinion. |
Maybe the seller had an agreement with the breeder stating that they would be informed if there was a change in the pup's ownership? The owner may have contacted the breeder regarding rehoming the pup and the breeder agreed as long as their name wasn't disclosed. Or, maybe the owner had a contract with the breeder to return the pup in such a situation but were breaking the contract? It happens. Maybe the dam and/or sire were found to have health issues not disclosed earlier and they didn't want that traced back in the pedigree? Or, maybe the dam/sire were never registered so no papers even exist? Or, maybe the person selling the dog is actually the breeder and advertising somewhere that selling a dog is not permitted. If things seem too strange I'd I'd definitely look elsewhere. You really don't have to have an AKC registration from the breeder/seller in most cases. To the majority of pet owners it really isn't that important, except possibly to know the date of birth of the litter. If you want to compete in events where a spayed/neutered dog can enter, just apply for a PAL (Purebred Alternative Listing) from the AKC. http://www.akc.org/register/purebred-al ... e-listing/ |
