Darcy, The icecubes. Bunker has learned to push on the dispenser on my Mom and Dad's new fridge. He showed her, now he get mad. When we go to my parents, their dog is there amd then Veirty and I show up with our beast. My Mom puts an ice cream pail on the desk full of water and ice cubes and the dog's bob for the ice. So much fun when Bunker has a full head of fur. |

Panda wont stick her face in the water...she licks off the side of the bowl....Bailey ie Baileys mom's dog ...dunks his whole face in the water...water every where...I have never seen anything like it before...lol |
Speaking of withdrawal, I haven't logged in since Tuesday because we've been on family vacation. I've missed you all and all of the sheepie news!
Yes, Bailey prefers to stick his whole head in the water bowl, then slosh water all over the floor, then sometimes roll in the water on the floor. Once you get past the annoyance of getting your socks wet every time you wak through the kitchen, it's really very funny. And he loves ice cubes too. Any time we open the freezer door, he comes right over and assumes his prettiest sitting position, "Look how good I am! Don't I deserve an ice cube or two?" |
Ceasaroo - that's funny about the ice dispenser!! Bob just figured how to get the ice and water on ours!! Luckily, we can lock it or our kitchen would be flooded daily!!!

So...................answer me this....................
I have two water dishes; the first is a bucket for Tasker, the second is a small bowl for Ty. They sit side by side. Every morning I dump them both clean them, run the water til it's nice and fresh and cold (we have absolutely lovely well water), fill the bucket and the bowl, set them down side by side and step back. Tasker will ONLY drink out of the bucket after he has managed to totally drain poor Ty's little water bowl Howz Come? |
???????? |
Well maybe he'd just rather have a smaller bowl...lol... and maybe it is an alpha dog thing...
When Dancer came into heat last week she became a little more dominant with Sky, but subtly for the most part. She was guarding the water bowl, so I put out a second bowl and she guarded them both. Then I put out 3 water bowls in seperate places around the kitchen and since Dancer couldn't guard all three she decided to dump two and resume drinking from the remaining one. LOL She simply did not want Sky to drink or eat until she was done. When she was done she didn't care. |
Hi,
Casearoo, What an image - Bunker and his buddies dunking for ice cubes..hee hee that's is so funny! Sounds like a bunch of smart pups you got there! Marianne and the boys Taskers mom..maybe it's the only way Tasker finally gets back at little Ty for all the bossing around his does! |
A few days after we brought Samantha into our home, I went to the fridge to fill my glass with ice cubes and water. As soon as I pressed the lever for the cubes, I got body slammed into the fridge by Sam. Apparently her former owner gave her ice cubes. I think I need to post a sign on the freezer stating "USE AT YOUR OWN RISK"! ! |
Winston just loves ice cubes. When we go to the freezer he is right there waiting for an ice cube. Also when he sees your glass filled with water and ice cubes he goes for it and will drink up the water from the glass without tipping the glass. But if he sees soda and tea in the glass he will not go for it. He just loves water and ice cubes. |

Hmmmmmmmmmm I may have a passive aggressive dog on my hands |
Tasker's mom, I don't know if this would help, but this is what we do with the water and they "got it" right away. Well, we had to say "noooooo" for just 2 days then Yuki understood it wasn't her water.
Yuki's water is on one of those elevated stands (also her food bowl). Well, Isis' water bowl (stainless steel rice bowl) is directly underneath. We keep a little dog mat there to soak up the water. the only time yuki will drink Isis' water now is if her water is gone. Just an idea! Sometimes Isis gets a little wet from Yuki drinking directly above her, but most of the time, they drink at seperate times. |
Hmmmmmm, that's an idea I didn't think of that. Of course knowing tasker he'll knock his water over to get to Ty's How do you manage to keep their food apart? Ty is a very slow eater and I can't just put it down an let him eat. During the day he has food in his crate but at night I usually end up hand feeding him on the couch so that Tsker won't steal it. |
The water is up against the wall, so I don't think Yuki can knock it down (not sure though). Just seemed to be the only alternative for us since leaving Isis water somewhere convenient (like next to Yuki) only resulted in a thirsty maltese. Plus, if I put the bowl wayyyyy under the elevated food stand, Yuki can't "REALLY" reach it. Plus, I think the water below is just not as convenient as the elevated stuff for Yukster.
I do the same thing and have the same problem with food. I leave her food in her crate... We have a super long one (or it seems that way for as small as Isis is), so Yuki just sits there at the opening of the crate when Isis eats. We took off the cage door though b/c I'm always afraid the swinging door will cause an accident (poked eye or Isis being slammed against it while playing). It's so funny to watch Yuki TRY to stick her head in her crate. hahahahaha Isis snaps at her face, but Yuki keeps trying. LOL I can tell she's happier w/the food there. The only bad thing I'm big into aura, and with food... they say (Chinese) that a healthy eating dog has no walls near its food. A dish backed against a wall can force them to eat too fast b/c they feel so pressured (walls). Well, I didn't believe that until they said not to crowd the area around the dish and a mirror where the wall was. Many other details too but it's hard to type since certain letters aren't typing correctly on this keyboard. This honestly got Isis to eat when she didn't as a puppy. Anywho...my point is, now she's backed into the corner of her crate again. She's EATIng...just not as happy about it (her mommy). |
