Merlin Almost Got Bit By A Scooter!
In this case Scooter was a ferocious little 5 pound terrier! 
Last night I was taking Merlin for a walk on his leash around the neighborhood. Suddenly this tiny terror darted across the street and body slammed Merlin! The poor ole man who owned him was so apologetic while trying to catch Scooter who was racing like crazy around Merlin. It looked rather comical but I was a tad worried as to how Merlin was getting agitated and gave a few barks. That little Scooter sure was fiesty and repeatedly body slammed Merlin and tried to bite him. I think most of the time Merlin couldn't even see where this little thing was as he was racing circles around him. It happens that the old guy had just picked up his little dog from a boarding kennel as he had just returned home from vacation. Scooter was in a crate and the old guy didn't see us coming and opened up the crate in his driveway. I'm thinking this little dog was peeved his upright dared to leave him and was in a especially cantankerous mood! All ended well and no harm done except to Merlin's pride. |

Poor Merlin!  How terrible being attacked like that! He did great not hurting the little guy though. Good boy, Merlin!!  |

| It was actually pretty funny and yes I was kinda proud of Merlin for only giving him warning barks. I think most of the time Merlin didn't even feel the little guys bites as all he had was a mouthful of hair.
I know there's a lot of stories which seem pretty funny of a big dog seemingly scared of a little dog and running away. There's a reason for that! In the dogs code of law they are not supposed to attack small pups..and yet tiny dogs..look like them but don't always act in puppy like manner which confuses bigger dogs and not knowing what to do ..they often leave to avoid this confusing situation. After Scooter was put away the old guy came over (I think he was a tad worried) that I may report him or something. Not to worry I wasn't upset. At the time I was in a conversation with his next door neighbor whom was also elderly and had a well behaved sweet little girl poodle with her. Merlin immediately sat when we chatted...think he was charmed by the pretty girl dog.  So obviously no lasting effects regarding small dogs.
