How old is too old for stuffed animals?

For people, not sheepies.

I had my bedroom painted and I love how uncluttered it is. I have manymany stuffed animals (probably 30) and unfortunately I'm kind of crazy and they all have names and most have personalities. I don't want them all back in my bedroom (I will keep certain ones) but feel guilty about putting them in boxes in the garage. I need to realize that they are NOT real! :cow: Am I just nuts?????

Jen's younger sister, who turned 50 this year has a 'doll room'. It's the second largest of four bedrooms and it's floor to ceiling full of dolls, stuffies and all things miniature. And she wonders why she's still single.... :sidestep:

I have 15-20 stuffed moose toys, plus we have a few teddy bears here and there around the house... oh and a sock monkey or two. Most are in my bedroom, displayed along the top of the false wall. I think about downsizing to just my favorites, but I never do.
I had a shelf put up in our bedroom for all my stuffed toys. the problem is that daughter buys me 1 every xmas-I get her 1 as well and she now has her own house and understands the room they take up. We get a small something from a charitity shop now.xx They do get names.xx
You could put them in a cedar chest (do they still have those?) or inside a decorative trunk or storage bench. That way they'll be nearby yet not cluttering your room. If you're nuts then a lot of us are as well. :sidestep:
If they bring a smile to your heart when you look at them, then you are never too old. :hearts: :hearts:
My excuse is I keep them for my kids. Usually my personality doesn't warrant needing excuses but just in case yours does, there ya go. I have a huge closet - huge, the size of a bedroom. The top shelf very neatly displays my stuffed people and dolls. I take them down every so often to wash because they get dusty and they get re-arranged. It's kind of like a whole new scene when I do that. The new ones get added then. It requires a ladder. The rest are kept in garbage bags in storage. I can't bring myself to give them away. I remember where and who they all came from and why. I would feel like I was giving away a treasure. Nothing like giving away old, outgrown clothes or shoes. Shhh, don't tell but my 15yr. old son and 12yr. old son have them in their rooms. Of course they get shoved in a drawer when friends come over but they are pulling them right back out when they leave! My daughter has 3 huge bins full in her closet. I don't buy them for my sons anymore but my daughter buys them for them - with her own money! I don't know if there is a too old! I think everyone is a sucker for a super snuggly, oh so soft, stuffed animal.
I do have a cedar chest that came from a charity shop-I keep all my 4ply wool in for my 40's/50's knitting. It has overflowed, dk etc is in big black bag. Keep getting told can't get any more wool till used up some!! Does keep growing thanks to daughter and online shopping-he he .xx
DH has a large black bear in the living room he will not part with so I have one of those standing sheepdogs as well! If you remember my old avatar, we still have the teddy bears for around the Christmas tree, tho we haven't put up a tree in several years. The bears sleep in their own individual boxes......I do miss seeing them.
We've got Teddy bears all over our house, but these were hand-stitched by Jen before her arthritis kicked into overdrive. So while we do have stuffed animals around, they do have a more than special meaning and will never leave. No matter who says what. I'll try to get some photos posted.

I have stuffed teddy bears, dolls and stuffed sheepies. I have a life size teddy in the living room on the back of my sofa and a life size panda in one of the bedrooms. I personally prefer the word 'crazy' to nuts. Crazy is good! :rimshot: AND you have to be a little crazy to be owned by sheepdogs.   :hearts: :hearts: :clappurple:
