cant remember my Summer being moody on her first season. She just takes them in her stride now, must be confusing for them though. |
Each dog, er bitch, reacts differently. Don't let her get away with the new behavior. A gentle correction may knock her out of her hormone haze. |
Not having a good time with Hollie. Went to vets last night at 6.15pm and then rang emergency out of hours at 8.45pm. Hollie suffering with toileting wee and poo really stressed and squealing. This morning she had wet everywhere with a mixture of blood been to vets. She now has infection in anal glands and urine. Been given antibiotic injection today and a course of antibiotics. The vet first time every had to muzzle her but she is so stressed and sore and guess doesn't want to be examined either of the bottom ends. She is also experiencing a very heavy first season. Now been put onto wet food only for her retum to heal. She is so stressed bless her and I need to wash her back end otherwise she will get matted but also smells so bad of urine due to the infection. My happy puppy isn't happy and has now started to mouth me. This is not her normally any advice greatly appreciated. She has been such a loving puppy but guess what with being in season first time and infections she isn't feeling too good. I need to be in control but she really doesn't mean to go for me but I do tell her off. She needs a bath but guess will leave her for a few days just wash were I can and if she allows me too without being grumpy. Can't believe this has taken nearly a week to sort out the course of her problem. Fluk she came on heat when at the vets. Today the blood and urine plus smell was unpleasant to wake up too but Hollie bless her had to have laid in that for the night having no control with her bladder. I didn't tell her off just washed the area/bedding etc. she has now been put on wet food only to give her rectum chance to recover. |
You will have to muzzle here to wash her bum. As soon as done, unmuzzle and give her a special toy or treat and kind words. Did they do an extra trim? If not, you should. It grows back. You will get through this messy and smelly time. Poor thing. When she heals, make some happy trips to the vet, just to get weighed and given a treat so she forgets the bad times. |
Poor Hollie, hope she feels better soon. |
