My questions: 1) Has anyone else ever had to deal with a foxtail seed burrowing deep into their OES? What's the best way to comfort an OES who has a foxtail seed, especially if seeing the vet that same day is not an option? 2) What's the best way to check for foxtail seeds? I've tried running my hands over and through his fur, but is there something else I should be doing? 3) Max is indoors 95% of the day, and he only goes outside to go bathroom. Has anyone ever had success with putting "booties" on their OES? Thanks to everyone in advance! Max and I both greatly appreciate it:-) |

I don't know a whole lot about them, but I do know they have been known to cause seizures in dogs... have no idea why that is though. |
So sorry to hear about Max, hope he feels better soon!
There was a recent discussion about foxtails in the Grooming forum- You can view it here-- http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=3659 Sheepie hugs to Max!!! |
I live in Cali too and we have tons of foxtails. Watch out for them. If you can remove it yourself from your pet without getting hurt do so immediately. If they migrate they can be deadly. I have seen cases where foxtails have gone in through the paws and leave through other end of the leg. I have also seen some that go in through the paws, the dog has surgery and they cant find it or they found some of them but not all and the ones they didnt get migrated through the bloodvessels into the heart and caused heart problems or into the lungs through the nose and caused big masses to form. Please everyone watch out for them!!! |
