Yay!!! |
Glad she's doing well!
She should be back to her normal self in a few days. How long until you leave? |
If you're gonna be gone for a month... I'd take her with. It'll be more stress ful to be gone from her family for that long- and you have to keep in mind that when boarding, she could potenmtially be introduced to germs she wouldn't normally come into contact with. That could be an issue with her system stressed after the spay.
Have a great trip!!!! We'll miss you (Sneak off to the local library to say hi!) Karen |
I agree with Karen. As long as you have a kitty carrier for the car ride, she ought to be fine during travel. And it is way better to be with family than isolated. . . |
Thanks everyone. She's home now & well...you can't even tell she had surgery! lol The vet said to make her take it easy, but how do you explain that to them? I have her in Jasper's old wire cage, so it's large enough for her litter box & bed.
Our vet said she'd be fine travelling - and she was like all of you, the month separation would be worse than the drive. By the way she's acting, I don't think we'll have any problems. I was up walking around within 6 hours of all my c-secs, but wow...I wasn't jumping on couches! lol I kenneled her because I was afraid she'd mess up her incision. My IL's vet will see her for her post-op checkup. I also took the kitten to the vet clinic (well, she came out to the van because I didn't want to expose the kitty to anything) and the vet said I'm doing a good job...it's very healthy. It weighs 8 oz by my food scale. Both of the eyes are open now, and the feeding every 3 hours seems to be doing good so far. He's started sucking my fingers too - very sweet. He's getting a little adventurous and walking out a little further than he used to (probably because he can see now). I think this little one will make it after all. His 2 week birthday will be on the 18th...and what a long 2 weeks its been! |
Wow Gail, You should be proud!!! glad to hear that everyone is doing so well!!! Great job! |
OH Gail........... I'm getting this mental image of you and kids and dogs and cats and oh yes is that a ferrett???? Driving in the van!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope your husband is going to be with you til you get to your in laws................what a site THAT flat tire would make
I'm glad Allie is doing well. Bless your heart!!!!!!! You do have a plateful. |
Gail, if she gets to licking the incision put a t-shirt on her. Make it a long one.......we use XLT for our bigger girls. We gather up the bottom of the t-shirt and knot it over the back bone. Very stylish. Also keeps them from licking. |
SheepieBoss, what a great idea!! No wonder your the boss!! |
no, no, many, many dogs either owned or rescued. But thanks. |
Isn't Allie the cat? |
You're still cracking me up |
Yeah, Allie is the cat.
That is a ferret in my avatar...Skittles. He's the reason me & my hubby met. LOL We don't have him any longer. When he was 5, he had some tumors that turned out to be cancerous. There wasn't much hope for him, so we had him put to sleep. I miss Skittles - he was an awesome pet. You don't even want me to run down the list of pets I've owned...lol pigs, horses, cows, dogs, cats, ferrets, fish, rabbits, racoon, we nursed a baby deer when I was a little girl, emus, guineas, chickens, iguana, boas, gosh I don't know what all! lol Just about every animal you can have as a pet! lol I lived on a farm, so I've had quite a few! |
Hmmm for some reason the words "Animal House" comes to mind...
Have fun on your trip and tell us all about your adventures when you return. Marianne and the boys |
