Amy's link

http://oesrows.org/pet/old-english-shee ... needs-amy/

Here is the link for Amy's contact information. I know there are some members here who have followed our ongoing work with Amy. Perhaps having the additional information from both here and the rescue would help place Amy in a home that can provide for her. She is an awesome dog, and I really want the best for her.

Amy is no longer available.
I'm so confused. I must have missed something. I tried looking but ?
I thought she was doing good with you guys finally on medication. Did something happen to push you into placing her?

I've missed a lot. I just had a baby a month ago so I haven't been on the forum for awhile.

So you guys found her a great new home?
Or, you're going to keep her?
We had to place her back into the rescue we got her from. They may choose to place her up for adoption again, but I don't think they will.

She had two incidents where we felt that we couldn't maintain safety here.

I know I'm pretty verbose normally...but right now... I just can't really find the words or the ability to explain further.

We're pretty heartbroken.
Annastacia, congrats on the baby!! Hopefully you and your family are well.

You really don't need to explain to anyone why you returned Amy to the Rescue. I know it was a hard decision for you and the "right" decision is usually the hardest ones we have to make. Amy had a rough go of it between the grooming incident and the trainer. You were trying to do the right things for her and it seemed like each attempt brought unexpected stress/trauma to Amy. She's in good hands, just don't be so down on yourself. You did the best you could.

We can only do the best we can do - and you did the very, VERY best you could for Amy.

Sorry to hear that. You were doing great with her, you gave her something she hadn't had in a long time. Don't feel badly, you did right by her in every way you possibly could. You went further than most ever would.
So Amy will most likely be placed in a home with a retired couple who deals well with special needs and who are well acquainted with OES. Its the best option for her.
I hope Bethany doesn't get angry but she PMed me prior to posting the rescue link to see if it was appropriate. I told her of course it would. And this outpouring of support is exactly what I was expecting. We've all had to do things we knew were right AND very difficult. We all know.

Well done all, especially Bethany!

After all of the love, and the hard work, and the energy, I know this was a very tough choice for your family.

Sometimes a dog needs a very specific type of environment to thrive, and it sounds like Amy needs a calm, routine-oriented, extremely structured place. It's just not fair that all of the love in the world isn't enough. :( And that sucks.

Thank you all for your support. Now that we've had some time to process this, we know that we did everything possible for Amy, and we've given her the best advantage we could. We miss her though. Logic doesn't do a good job of soothing the hurt when you make the hard decisions.

Thank you Vance, for letting me post her link to begin with. I had hoped that it would help Amy's cause and maybe it will. If the home that the original rescue intends to place her in doesn't work out, there is a chance that she could be placed up for adoption again. If so, I have asked that they work with OESROWS to get her placed in a OES home that can provide the home she needs. I still have hope that the best possible home is out there for her.
