We give Monty a raw egg with his breakfast once a week. It is something we always did with the boxers to keep their coat healthy and shiny. But, we are starting to wonder if the egg is affecting his behaviour. He seems a little more energetic and nippy and just not quite as placid and well behaved on the day he has an egg. I may be imagining this, but, three weeks in we think we see a trend. I was wondering if anyone else has ever noted something like this? If so, do you just cut the eggs out of the dogs diet? Or, do you try something else. Any and all suggestions would be very much appreciated. Cheers Sue |

Apparently he likes eggs! Aside from the salmonella issue with a raw egg, you could give him a coddled egg instead, I see no reason not to continue......who wants a placid puppy? OK, at bed time placid would be ideal. Remember OES coats don't really shine like some of those short hair breeds so going for a shiny coat isn't going to work. Baths are better-- to a point. And if you are feeding a healthy food, the extra egg might actually be too much protein for the little guy. But if you get a peppy puppy, an egg now and then could be fun. |
We have our own chickens, and when they over accumulate (like now), my dogs all start getting eggs with their food. I don't see any difference in behavior with any of our 6 when eggs get added to their diet. We feed our eggs raw too. |

Peppy puppy is normal and good. We think the eggs are like giving a 2 year old red cordial and lollies. It is almost that sort of "rush". We will keep an eye on it and monitor it closely. There may not be a link but it is the only different thing he eats from time to time. Cheers Sue |

We will just monitor this a little closer and see what happens.Cheers Sue |
