Welcome to the forum! My first OES is 1 and an as-yet-unaltered male, so I don't really have any advice or answers to your question. I just wanted to drop in and say Hi. Please post some pics of your sweet Polly (and your other fur babies too). We love pics here! |
No, I've never noticed much change in the girls after the surgery other than the grumpies during the heat cycle. Overall, no change. Boys who are hyper before the snip may settle....some never do. And in many cases, intact males--with good household training and good stable breeding--can be just rock solid, none of that crazed sex stuff. Polly has a pretty much set temperament, you shouldn't see a change. |
My sheepie came to us fixed, so I don't know how it affected her. We had the collie fixed shortly after we got her and her personality did not change. I will say, and this is just my own experience, having primarily owned and worked with male dogs, these girls seem to be a little moodier than the boys ever were. |
My Airedale didn't change after he was neutered. My OES came to us already fixed, so don't know if it made a difference. |
We have 2 girls, and having them spayed made no personality difference at all. Welcome to the group; so glad you are loving the breed! They really are something else |
Thank You all for all the feed back. I was so hopeing that Polly would not change. I have never had a dog that i loved this much she is the blessing I needed. Thank you again |
I also am a new oes owner. Hollie is now nearly 6 months. She has just been given the all clear after being injured. We were at puppy class and somehow she got her rear dew claws caught in fur this caused her to have a knee and hip injury. She has been on rest with limited walks for 8 wks. So hard to keep a puppy resting but now on the mend. Dew claws now removed whilst under anesthetic for X-ray on knee/hip. |
Yay! Congrats!! |
