Tucker is hunching his back- like a cat. Normal?

At times, Tucker hunches up his back, like a cat. He isn't in pain, and doesn't do it all the time, but, I was wondering if this is normal. It's been so long since we have had a dog without special needs, we just forget what normal / not normal behavior is.

Unless he is stretching or scratching his back, no it's not normal. Usually a sign of distress.........somewhere: gut most often.

Being a pup, it might be puppy yoga as he's trying to get things aligned properly.

Keep an eye on him.

He did it this afternoon... after he had been laying for awhile. It almost seems like a "stretch".... he seems to enjoy doing it. We will watch him.
Yeah, a back hump after a nap is a stretch......puppy yoga. Don't forget the back leg stretch little one, point those toes.

I love it when he does his toe points! And his "stretch real big" trick on the floor. Our Vet told us that human's should take a lesson from our animals, and stretch like they do, everyday.
And stretch forward and stick that bum in the air. I like to ruffle it and say "gooch your bum" makes his tail wiggle.
Yes, if he's doing it after a nap, or laying around in one position - it's a good thing. I've always encouraged it by praising the stretches since puppyhood. Chewie can do them on command, I encourage it before agility runs and other physical events. Bond and Chewie do beautiful stretches - but Chewie more so. He can actually stretch front (like play bow), then eases forward through (thru!) all his vertebrae, and ends with both rear feet flipped up together! Bond needs to do one rear foot, then the other. But maybe with practice... :)
I love when they do the cat strech 8)

Ballet paws (what I call the toe pointing) is fun too. Izzie does cute front ballet paw stretches.

Taylor can do much deeper stretches than Izzie, he is like Gumby compared to her

And we wonder why Bond is such an athlete! Kudos to his breeder!! :cheer: :cheer:
I have a 14 year old that does the same thing when it comes to stretching.Front toes to rear toes.
