I always get male dogs but if I ever had a girl sheepie I would name her Lilly.
There is a cool site http://www.petrix.com/dognames for helping to pick names. |
My favourite suggestion given to me was "Deefer"
(It came from someone I met who had a friend that called thier cat "Ceefer"....think about it) |
When I got Quiburis, my husband wanted to name her Penelope. Actually, it is a very pretty name I think. |
My girls try to name ours Poppkins (as in Mary), Miss Racoon, Indy (as in the Indy 500), Beauty, and Jumper. Then the youngest suggest Abbi and it stuck. Wish I hadn't agreed though. Angela is my youngest and people call her Angie and Abbi comes running!
Quiburis is so cute Karen! She looks a lot like my Abbi did when her hair grows out. Are both of her eyes masked? |
wehn i got truman, i was meant to get his sister. her name was to be fiona. but truman and i just bonded.
i decided on HIS name by going to a website that had the meanings of names in different languages. i looked up names from "old english" origin. truman means loyal friend. and he is! i will look for the link, but most baby name sites have something like that. the site i had was SO great, though....but its been a year since i named truman. |
Yes, both of Quiburis' eyes are masked. |
We have a photo of Abbi like that. It is a couple of years old, I will see if I can scan it in. And I wondered if Abbi was the only OES with a mask!
Angie likes the name Quiburis. How did you find it? |
Well we have narrowed it down to 2 possibilities.
Both are named after 2 of my guns. Remmi (remmington 1100 series shotgun) Rooka (after Miruko over and under) I think Remmi is kinda cool and unusual |
I really like that "Remmi"
Good luck! |
I have a Remington. but it a 30-0 rifle. Never thought to name the dog after it. I have never fired it around her either. I don't trust her much I guess?
My Dad has an old 410/ 22 over and under rifle. It is only about 60 or so years old and no one uses it since it misfired that one time. Haven't heard of anyone using one in a long time... Like the names for your dogs though. So 2 new puppies to train to go hunting? Sounds like a busy year. |
Well, after much discussion (the wife won this one) we have decided on Effie.
The reason (so im told) is that her Kennel Club registered name is Cover Girl. So with that in mind my wife went and done some searches on the net and found out that Hugh Heffner was instrumental in a lot of Cover Girls success. With the link to Heffner she shortened it to Effie and there we have it... Im sure H H will be delighted that he has an OES Bitch named after him...lol Roll on a week this sunday, just cant wait to pick her up. Regards Andy and Julie H |
