Willow dodge a second bullet....

Let me begin by saying I am NOT a bad sheepiemommie.....BUT, I may be a bad Willowmommie....

She is my third Sheepie and I guess I was silly enough to think that :

#1,,,,Since none of my sheepies ate things that 'got caught' in their tummies, then none of them would.
#2,,,Willow is the most perfect dog..In the 3 months she has been with us, I have heard her bark a total of 3 times.
#3,,No crying or sensitivity to grooming at all!!!! No nipping or grabbing at hands, feet or legs....
#4,,,She does not protest too much when I have to cate her in the basement when I leave for work.
#5,,,She had Dino wrapped around her baby pawpinkie in about 2 days, which makes me feel she is very smart.
#6,,,She is very obedient. Wants to learn to be a part of our home. And seems to be getting a sense of humor thanks to daddy.
#7,,,She is 96% housebroken. (hasn't has an accident in about 3 weeks..but, of course, she will probably have on tonight after saying this.)
#8,,,She is VERY Chill.....calm, doesn't go crazy but loves to chase the leaves blowing in the wind.

ok..here goes...
You all know about the SOCK :?: :?: ....her system bounced back very quickly, :phew: :phew:
By Friday, she was 100%!!!! :clappurple: :clappurple:

Saturday morning, I woke up to to find my READING GLASSES in pieces on the floor....!!!! :twitch: :twitch:

(They were behind 2 bottles of water on my night stand that butts up against our bed....The bottles were untouched...she had to have stood on my head in order to reach them.....

Parts were missing...one of the lens frames..and pieces of the plastic lenses. I searched the room for them but I assumed they were in her belly. I called Judi...then Dawn...and both were supportive if not amused about my delimma...Next call was the vet, who said it was too late for peroxide..watch her ...take her to the emergency vet if there are any of the signs that she had with the SOCK 3 days before... :potstir: :potstir:

I really felt that between the pain and agony she felt with the SOCK incident...and the pain and agony she brought to her poor mom..that she had learned a valuable lesson.... :cow: .....NOT~~~~~

I decided to go on with our Saturday schedule, in spite of my fears, figuring the more she moved around the faster I would know if there would be a blockage....
She ate, pooped, peed...we went to her obedience class and her first party...(Bert's 1st Birthday Party! :bdcake2: )
She played and ate cake and was good.....

Our bedroom is rather small, hence no room for a crate..BUT...my very clever hubby, rearranged all of the furniture while we were at class and was able to squeeze Pearl's old hard crate into our bedroom... :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

I expected alot of crying and barking during the night, but, true to her 'goodness'...she whined 2 times, very quietly, and I told her to go to sleep and she did.

It was the first good nights sleep I have had in a very long time....

This morning...she ate, pooped, peed, ran after the leaves, snuggled with daddy,

I am hoping that we have dodged a second bullet....(there will NOT be a third..)....

I am praying that she will not have a blockage .......... :plead: :plead: :plead: :plead:

Wee Willow will be crated at night until she is about 16 years old....... :? :?

Glad to hear she is happy and seems to be back to normal.

We have had a couple of those nights with our dogs, not a fun feeling overnight but the best feeling ever when they seem to be back to normal. Leonard has eaten and passed a number of things in his 2 years. We keep everything up high or out of reach but they are sneaky doggies! We have to empty all garbages daily and keep doors closed to make sure they don't find "treasures"
Silly Willow! I hope everything works out well for her...
It sounds like if she had a blockage you would know already. Although last night at 2:30 in the morning Harry puked up pieces from a new type of bone that he hadn't had in at least two days. So while his poop was normal and he was acting fine those pieces of bone had to find a way out since they weren't able to come out the normal way. So keep watching. They may still show up in her poop too.

I am glad Dino worked out a way for her to be in the crate. I think she probably isn't sleeping at night but that could be because she isn't getting worn out enough in the evenings. That should change with the weather getting nicer - she will be able to be more active. I noticed that Bert could barely keep his eyes open last Monday after his agility class. The class started again now that winter is over.

We are walking him too now that we actually have no snow or ice on the streets and sidewalks.

In time you will be able to leave the crate door open when she matures. Then eventually gets out of the crate.

And YES she is a very good girl. But she is a puppy without a clue about appropriate behavior at times. I certainly know about that scenario.
She can smell you on your glasses which is why she took them & not the water bottles. You'd think they'd get the connection between the pain & what they ate BUT you have to remember, their memory is generally 4 seconds long so they probably have no clue why they were so sick.
They never learn that lesson. So glad she will be safe in the crate for nighttime too. Better night sleep for everyone! More exercise will help tire her out also. Can't wait to meet Willow soon!

Ummmm sorry Val. I must take some of the blame. If you look at your post about the sock you will discover that Tiggy posted to Willow and advised her that spectacles were quite tasty and nice and crunchy. To be fair she did suggest spitting them out. We really need to change our passwords to stop these two exchanging messages.

If it helps I'm pretty sure that Tiggy's initial forays (she ate 5 pair, Wayne could not remember not to leave them around) did not involve spitting and there were never any nasty side effects. So fingers crossed that Tiggy and Willow have both the same taste and the same constitution. Tiggy was not into socks but she did like mobile phones.

I think Tiggy was 2ish when she decided to stick to food, bits of the garden and appropriate toys.
Willow Willow Willow!!

Your mommy doesn't need any more Willow-panics! Be a good sweet girl!
I know what you mean, you always feels like you have to be "on the alert" for anything going in the mouth that shouldn't be there. I think Helene needs to come and visit Willow so to teach her how to bark. Helene is not a big barker, but I've heard her bark enough to know what bark means what...enough said on that. lol We've been trying to take the pups out each day in the car for errands to get Helene used of the car. She had only been in the car once when we picked her up and since we've had her between all of Chuck's dr appointments, hard to find time for her to ride along. So she complains for the first little bit of the ride, even though she has Declan in the cage with her. Hmmm, maybe that is why she complains, lol not that not true, she loved her Deckey. I think that is one of the reasons Helene doesn't get in as much trouble as she could, she has her Declan to play with...and Nanny Asia to keep an eye out.
So no more scaring Mommy Willow.
