Titers.

I am at a crossroads as to what to do. Gertie's titers came back and her distemper was 24 and it should be 36. The vet said we can wait till next year and see if they lower anymore within that year , it is up to me. The problem is she will be attending Rally classes this spring and will be in contact with many dogs. There is not vaccine for distemper alone, it would be a combo vaccine. What are your takes on what to do?

What are the chances of a false positive result?

What does it cost to retest? Is it worth retesting sooner, like in a couple of months before Rally classes get into full swing maybe?

I hope someone here is more up on the validity and reliability of the test.
The class starts in mid April. I would have to check to see if they can just do the distemper over. I would not see why they couldn't.

I'm pretty sure they would do the titer over again, its just that I'm not sure if its worth it. It all depends on the reliability of the test and whether the level is likely to change over such a short space of time.

Worth a discussion with your vet though.
