Anybody know this breeder in Wisconsin

Hello

Does anybody know Marlene Sauriol, in Waupaca Wisconsin? She has puppies available in March.
I found her on Breeders.net. Looks like the parents are AKC registered. I have to contact them to get further details. Before I do that, i wanted to know if anybody here knows this breeder.

P.s. Because of this forum, I have been in contact in other wonderful breeders around wisconsin and indiana area. Some of them are not breeding and others are waiting to see if the mother is pregnant. But I was tempted when i saw the availability of this Waupaca, WI puppy. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Arti

I have never heard of her. There are several very good breeders in WI tho'. AKC registration only means that both the parents are AKC registered on a "full" registration and that means their puppies can be AKC registered either on a "full" or "limited" registration.

I would make sure to ask for a hard copy verification of at least OFA certification on hips & elbows & Cerf Certification (eyes). Another good thing to do is go to the OIFA website & check back thru the pedigrees of the parents to see how many of the ancestors have been certified & what their certifications are. In other words, check the depth of the certifications. These are just 2 of the most basic tests. A lot of breeders also are doing testing on the parents for hearing (BAER), heart, CA, MRD1 etc. These will be listed on the site also for verification. Puppies can also have some of these tests done at a young age before going to homes. If they are not listed & the breeders says they have been done, ask to physically see the papers that list the test results & make sure the tests are done by board certified vets in those fields.

It sounds like a lot of work but in the long run it narrows down the field & gives you better odds of getting a healthy puppy.

Patience is a big factor also. Remember that the reputable, good breeders are only breeding when they are ready to keep something for themselves. Most of us do not have the large kennels like in the past. We generally can keep between 4-6 dogs & we don't' necessarily rehome them when they are done being bred. A lot depends on what they have kept for their breeding programs too. Sometimes you end up with not very many girls & it can be a long time in between litters. Right now Cathy & I are looking at least at 9 months before we have a girl who MIGHT be ready to breed. It just so happened that the last few litters we had did not have many girls & what girls we did keep needed to reach the proper age for their health tests after they finished their championships. We bred 2 litters finally between us & ended up with 1 girl out of each which meant we were looking at least 2 years down the road before we had anything ready to breed again. The days of the reputable big kennels with 40-50 dogs are long gone. There are just a few around & in our breed they are very limited.

Bottom line ....don't be afraid to ask questions of the breeder. Do your homework.
As Marilyn mentioned above ^^

I live in MN, and never have heard of them in the reputable breeder realm. I'd wait.
