WOW...what a site
I am obviously new to the web site and forums, but i certainly am not new to the OES as a breed, we have had 2 previous beloved dogs, and recently lost our Beardie at 13 years young  and it was a decsision that i had to make to have her put to sleep because of liver cancer(possibly the worst day of my life)
We have now just purchased our newest family member, She is just 2 weeks old and waiting with mum up in a local farmhouse near Peterborough for us to collect in another 6-7 weeks. We are lucky enough to live in the UK in the Midlands area surrounded by farmland and livestock. My Beardie was trained as a sheep dog and she was entered in a few local competitions, but i havent yet tried to train any OES...that might change with this new addtion though. One strange thing i found whilst visiting the farm and the new additions to an already large community of OES (she has 4 OES adult dogs and 9 pups) a newfoundland, a few terriers and horses (typical english working farm) but the father of my pup is regularly seen out shooting, although not a retriever, he will sit with his master in a hide and indeed walk with him whilst shooting. I have never heard of, or seen this before in an OES. Is this unusual or natural for the breed?...just wondering !! Anyhow, nice to see you all here, and i hope to be a more regular visitor as the years go by.  |
