Road Food

Wasn't it here we had a discussion about road food a few weeks ago? In going thru Joyce's website, I found pictures of local historic diner that still serves a darn good malt!!!

Yes, it was here !
Thanks for sharing what a cute diner!
Bet they have great malts! We just saw the history of
Route 66 on the History channel.

Now, if you are in the mood to buy an ice cream business,
this one is up for sale again...It was great in its day,and
a stream of steady customers out the door!

Ever since I've moved to AZ I've been interested in Route 66 history. One of these weekends I'm going to take the hubby and puppy and go for a drive.
I would love to take a Route 66 trip. I wonder how many sheepie folk I could hook up with along the way . . .
Im in....what a hoot if we all did a caravan mamma's with their sheepies...picture this instead of motorcycles and bandana's....minivans with wet nose prints and capri pants :D
We took Rte 66 on the Harley... What a ride! We took it from CA to Laughlin NV. It was just gorgeous!
Hmmm... Minivans and Sheepies... Very interesting Watch out world here comes the Sheepies!
I'm sorry I missed that show........I forgot  Acutally here in the Albuquerque area there were two Route 66s. The first one was prior to 193 something (I'd run down the street and read the historical sign but it's late  ) The road took a hard south turn in the middle of Albuquerque and went south about 20 miles along the Rio Grande before turning west again. Then in 193whatever a new road was built west from Albuquerque where it hooked up with the old road about 30 miles west. Along the old section there are still several old "trading posts" and "gas stations." Some are now houses, others are just sitting there rotting away. Just trivia you'll never need........

West of Williams, AZ the road wandered up north a ways, but the Interstate chopped off the big bow.........it wasn't that pretty anyway.

Love the milk bottle building! Sounds like a business I would have enjoyed a few years ago. Of course me and ice cream................I'd eat the profits.

Pics from the Route 66 portion of our big trip...

That's the section! Cut off from the world, LOL! Imagine going through that area with the water bag slug over the front of the car to quell boiling radiators!

Great Edsel........I always loved the pink or turquoise colored cars.......or the Ford.....57 or so......in black and red.............hmmmm.

How about a milk can building instead!
It will look great after the renovations!

oh yeah! Imagine "This Old House" coming to renovate a milk bottle. What would Norm and Tommy do??
I dunno, but PBS would milk it for everything it's worth.
