Was told by VET. Oliver has swallow hip sockets. Will need hip surgery at about Three or Four. Cost would be about four thousand per. hip. Told VET. I was going to notify breeder. He stated can't certify until Oliver is 20 months old. As I stated Oliver is my love and Joy, I wanted to tell breeder only for breeding purposes. Me and Oliver will do are best. My question is can I still get medical insurance for Oliver and not state a hip problem because the VET. is only guessing and would not know until Oliver is twenty months old. Thanks DWM |

Get copies of the xrays and have another vet give you a second opinion. Re-xray if necessary. And ask 4dognight here about unnecessary hip surgery on her dog Guinness. Definitely let the breeder know in writing what you find out. Chances are it may be bad news but maybe not. Different vets manage things differently. Personally, I'd find out if there is anything else to be done before opting for surgery. Sorry, I can't help with the insurance question. Seems like you'd have to check various pet insurance companies for their coverage options. |
