He couldn't lay on his left side and couldn't turn his head to the left without crying. I manipulated his head a bit and he would cry if I turned it to the left. I gave him some Rimadyl around midnight but he just slept on & off all night. With the uncomfortableness he was feeling this morning, I decided to take him to the vet. He's there right now. They'll sedate him and do some x-rays around noon. I'll have him back later today. Hoping it's just a soft tissue injury. |

Poor Brick, hope it's nothing serious. Hopefully just some rough play between brothers. |
Prayers for Brick. I hope it's nothing serious. |
They finished with Brick's x-rays. They don't show anything significant and nothing has changed since the last time he had neck pain about 2 or 3 years ago. So it's either a soft tissue injury or a pinched nerve. Either way, he'll have to take it easy for the next week or 2 and take a pain killer and muscle relaxant. He's sleepy right now so he'll stay there for a few more hours. I can pick him up at 5. |
That poor boy. I hope the pain meds and relaxers do the trick. |
Paige had a pinched nerve that would act up from time to time. Being a Pyr she wouldn't complain of the pain, but she'd hold her head funny. She could not lie down or relax while it flared up. I bought a mechanical massager with the "bouncy" balls....hard to explain. SHE LOVED IT!! I'd massage her neck, shoulders, etc and also gently pull the head forward, stretching the cervical area while hand massaging. This would go on for an hour and she'd slowly sink to the ground and fall asleep. Yeah, Xrays didn't show a problem, but they have to look. |
Hope Brick is feeling better tonight and his brother will give him some rest. |
He's home now. Had a small dinner per the doc, had his meds, and took a small pee. I'll keep the boys separated for the next couple of weeks. |
poor brick.....huggs and healing thoughts to all of you!!! |
Hope he feels better soon. |
