I started coming everyday and grooming her. She was a sweetie. Saturday she recognized my voice and came a running. I got a message today when I was out and about, that Hope was down, and it was the end. I came out to say my goodbyes. I sat with her on the frozen cold ground for an hour until the vet came. I was with her when she took her last breath. I am so sad. I knew this would be part of rescue, I just wasn't ready so soon. So sorry, but at least she was surrounded by love when she took her last breath. |
So heartbreaking--at least she had you in her last days and moments. |
She was very lucky to have someone like you for her last days. |
She had joy at the end--she knew you and trusted you. I'm sorry her life was so rough, but love will carry her on. Yes, this is the down side of rescue, or becoming close to another animal--or human. |
Sad to hear. |
oh, Lisa...I am so sorry. You were there for her. She felt love and kindness up to the end, because of you. |
So sorry Lisa. Take comfort in knowing that she felt love and kindness because of you. Cindy |
I am so sorry, horses are wonderful animals. I am sure she was happy her last months because of you. |
This makes me cry but also makes me happy that Hope knew you and knew love and had you there with her at the end. I am sure it made a difference to her. Bless you for caring. Yes, the lows of rescue are indeed low. But there will be highs to balance them. So sorry for your loss. Linda Zimmerman |
These stories break my heart, so glad you could be with her at the end. |
