On Monday, she began the 'inverted sneezing', which she has never done. One more concern... She does not get up or come to greet us when we come home. Add a concern... Her right eye seems a little gloppy and red..Add another concern... During the night, she will get up and just stare and breathe at least a couple times. Add another concern... So, with her food intake deminishing, and her restlessness at night, all my concerns, we decided it was time for the pred, 50 ml. per day. I should see some improvement within 3-5 days if it works. Doc and I had the conversation... She was diagnosed on 10/4/13. Now it is 11/11/13...approx. 6 weeks. All the information on websites, and from my vet's own mouth is 2 months. So the question HAD to be asked...Do I only have 2-3 more weeks with her? His answer was, "I think she has more time". I pray that he is right. |

I hope he is right too. |
special thoughts coming your way xx |
shedding tears for you..........hugs for Heart |
I suspect she has more time too. Three months sounded too soon. Try chicken broth on her food, sprinkle some grated cheese. Here warm broth and canned dog food added to kibble is norm now for Harry. If I have left over meats or meat juices, those are gobbled. I'm not keen about the middle of the nights either. I just reach out of bed rub him until he settles again and goes down. I call it the "I'm OK are You OK?" times. Pred should help. I haven't given it to Harry and may not. |
Thinking of you guys. |
Thinking of you, Dino, Heart, and everyone whose lives she's touched. |
Hoping the pred helps her. |
Saying a special prayer that he is right! |
BIG hugs, right off the bat! I hope you see some relief with the prednisone (and it almost always does) and give you and Dino more time to hug and love Heart. |
and many prayers |
Give her a kiss and cuddle from us |
I'm sorry about the changes. Are you giving the prednisone in divided doses? My allergist and my vet agree that it wears off in 12 hours or so. Though it can interfere with sleep, so that can be a reason for a single daily dose. |
Big hugs coming your way. Wishing for lots more good days for Heart. Linda Zimmerman |
Our experience was that Lacy's first symptoms appeared in October last year, she was diagnosed in early November and we let her go on February 1. So we had 4 months total from onset of symptoms. We started Prednisone right at the time of her diagnosis. Hugs to you. This is such a hard time. |
Val and heart thinking of both you everyday. Hugs |
I haven't heard from you since last week. I've been thinking of you both.......... Did you receive the letter/info from my vet? have you given it to yours? He asked me today when i had to go in. worrying about the 3 of you there.................. Ali, Checker's and Caly |
