Time Change

For those of you who turned back the clock an hour this morning...did your dog know the time change? Mine STILL wanted to eat at their regular time - but it was an hour too early. AND then they wer pacing by the door to go out - again an hour too early. Now they are sleeping - hello guys, it is not time yet

I woke up early, dang it. Kensie was ready for pee. Fortunately I came home today and crawled into bed.....arthritis and COLD (I'm not a winter person any more--I'll be living in Cuddle Duds) so fortunately slept through her old dinner time. Unless she tells time by watching the sun, we might be OK. Late afternoon p/p was another problem. I wasn't going outside so all I could get her to do was #1. She held #2 until DH got up from his nap and took her outside.

Right now she's by the front door waiting for me to bring the laser light outside so she can chase goblins. I've created a monster.
I confess to having the best dogs ever. IF it is a day that I can sleep in, they let me. I can even get up early, let them out for a quick minute and they let me go back to sleep, though I usually give them a dog cookie so Riley doesn't spit up stomach acid.

Even the cats leave me alone. My daughter's cat stays with us often and she does better at my house than with my daughter. Apparently she wakes up my daughter at 5:30 every day, but leaves me alone. She got Harper an automatic feeder.
Nah, they didn't seem to notice the time change at all.
Sunday was smooth, but this morning, Monday, Asia was starving at 4:00. I held her off until 5:00, but she was a hungry girl. Violet and China just slept until breakfast was served. Violet doesn't come out of the bedroom until her Daddy gets up. They have a doggie door, so no worries there.
The past 2 days Domino wanted dinner at 4pm, don't know about today yet since it isn't that time yet. breakfast has never been an issue since he doesn't get fed at the same time each day (depends on when daddy gets up) so he is good as long as you feed him by 6:45am..
We are lucky, it seems the girls are flexible in their timing, e.g. I often sleep in an hour later on weekends and the girls are fine with that.

Though there is one specific thing Mady is not flexible on. Mady considers 10p.m. to be Kim's bedtime. End of story.
It was like that for us when we had three and even two dogs, but with only Harley now we free feed so she just eats whenever.

It was TORTURE when the kids were little, though. I swear it took 10 days to get them back on track. I hate it and always feel sorry for those with little ones in the house when the time changes.
Oscar is Rainman, so he definitely notices. Plus, he gets fed four times a day, with meds, so he tells time very well. The time changes used to drive me crazy until my hubby came up with a brilliant idea. Instead of trying to make Oscar spring forward or fall back, I just adjust the time I feed him by the appropriate hour. During daylight savings time, he gets fed at 5 am, 1 pm, 5 pm, and 9 pm. When we spring forward, I feed him at 6am, 2 pm, 6pm, and 10 pm.

DUH! So much simpler for me to adjust than to try to explain to Oscar why his food is going to be an hour late. Four times a day. For six months.

My hubby is a very smart guy. :clappurple:
