Finally(!) we feel almost prepared to bring a new family member into our lives and we want it to be an OES! My family and I are looking for a responsible breeder and would love some advice from this knowledgable community. We've gone through the AKC and OES Club websites and read the Until You FInd Me information. So far, we've been in touch with two breeders, ShaggyAcres in PA (does anyone know this breeder? Linda seems lovely and so caring, but does not do OFA certification) and WIgglebottomFarms. I've been in email touch with Beth, but would love to chat with her on the phone (could anyone PM me her contact info?). We would love to bring one home this winter because we'll have a lot of free time over the 8 months and it would be a perfect time for us. Thank you all SO much in advance! I've already learned a ton!! |

Welcome to the forum! I am a fairly new OES owner myself. Sam is 6 months old. This forum is amazing for help with any questions you may have (and even the ones you don't even know to ask). Everyone is caring and supportive. A great place to start your breeder search is the Old English Sheepdog Club of America. They have tons of info on their site along with a breeder referral. Here's the link to their referral page: http://www.oldenglishsheepdogclubofamerica.org/breed_info/breeder_referral.php As far as the breeders you mentioned, you can use the search in the forum header. If anyone else has mentioned them here (good or bad) you'll be able to find it. Good luck on your search! I can't wait to hear all about your puppy once he/she arrives! Oh, and we love lots of pictures here. |
I've got a Wigglebottom and he is wonderful. |
Thanks so much for the help and reassurance. We are very hopeful that we'll be able to add a Wigglebottom soon!! It seems to good to be true that it could all work out. All our paths seem to lead straight to Beth. May I ask where Sam is from? He looks just precious. Looking forward to posting our own pics soon! |
I know nothing about this breeder, but I did look at their website, nowhere do they mention what testing and certification they do on their breeding dogs. They may be a fantastic breeder I don't know, but just make sure to confirm they do the various recommended testing. |

Sorry, I don't know how to make this a short link: http://www.offa.org/results.html?num=&r ... ns=Y&breed[]=SD&breedlist=ALL&variety[]=&sex=&birthday_start_month=&birthday_start_year=&birthday_end_month=&birthday_end_year=&birthday=&rptdte_start_month=&rptdte_start_year=&rptdte_end_month=&rptdte_end_year=&rptdte=&submit=Begin+Search |
Sam is a Blueshire boy. He's such a joy. Amber is a fantastic breeder. |

It would be very helpful for breeders like this to link to the offa.org site, especially since it's something they'd want to promote. |
