I was curious about this one when it came out, though I haven't read anything by King since I was a teenager, I am curious about this one, I'll put it on my list. |
Good to know - Todd loves his books. |
I'm hoping to read that one this week, sounds good |
Quote: I can't read horror or suspense ditto. Don't do the movies either. |
Oh I LOVE horror and suspense and stories about serial killers. I guess I am nutty. I stopped reading King when his books go so long I lost the story BUT I was a true lover of the Shining and will read this one - eventually! |
But I like police drama type books and follow many, not all of the major writers. Spooky, terror-filled, nope. |
I will have to check it out. |
Hey - what is the title? |
My moms obsessed with Stephen King she has literally got every single book! crazy lol |
Todd read it (from library) and he really liked it. He owns many of his books, and has read and reread them all. |
I haven't read him since I was a teenager either. So many books, so little time! I am a Reader's Services Librarian at a public library in the Chicago suburbs, so my job is to make fiction recommendations for folks looking for books. I love it! For those of you who enjoy suspense, and a tinge of horror (Ashley ), I just read a great book called "Night Film", by Marisha Pessl. It is menacing and disturbing, but in a good way! The flavor of the book reminds me of "Gone Girl", but the plot is nothing like it. "Night Film" is the story of a disgraced journalist who tries to redeem his reputation by investigating the death of the daughter of a reclusive horror film director. Currently, I am enjoying a historical mystery called "A Fatal Likeness" by Lynn Shepherd. It explores the dark secrets and tangled web of the life of Percy Bysshe Shelley, through an attorney charged with looking into his life. Another recent mystery author I've enjoyed? Louise Penny. It's a detective series set in Quebec (Det. Armand Gamache), but it read more like literary fiction. Really good. The first book in the series is called "Still Life". Any my job here is done. If anyone is looking for recommendations, feel free to PM me, or post a thread so others can chime in as well. (Just part of the service we provide here at oes.org. ) Laurie and Oscar |
