Dog attacking feet

Hello everyone. I have a 3 year old sheepdog named Harry. Would anyone know why he attacks and bites your feet while you are sitting on the couch or he also does this when you are getting up from the couch. I don't know what to do about this behaviour. Harry has high prey drive he chases vacuums, lawn mowers, cars etc
:wag: :go:

Sheepdogs can have a high prey drive. As far as feet, mine love feet too and we rarely go around barefoot! But no kidding, sounds like he has a super high prey drive, chasing things ect. Is there a place you can take him to run off the energy? Is there a dog school near by for some classes? he needs exercise - especially at this young age of three. Have you looked into maybe a herding place where he can actually do some herding? More info is needed!
My Pooh Bear showed that trait too. The more I watched it, it was his way of "herding". He didn't have the chasing drive....just the feet thing.
Simone was a foot watcher but never attacked. She would concentrate on your feet to determine which way you were going. Say "Come MO" and she'd look down to see which way your toes pointed

Crumpet rather like chewing on feet, but we worked it out, only IF I was wearing shoes. Otherwise it was too painful. Never attempted to herd feet, just enjoyed sneaking up on them and pouncing. Lots of icky shoe laces.
Pooh never bit your feet...just made you jump once in a while. Never even nipped them come to think of it.......
With Crumpie it was a game....I often initiated it....but not always. She also was hard on vacuums and brooms, grabbing hold and eventually trying to climb on board.

Heel nipping......no that's herding and needs to be trained out.
We were told at one point by a trainer that if the dog has the upper hand (so to speak) over your feet, he is controlling you - he is the alpha. They stalk and attack feet in order to keep you "in your place." It is a trait that really should be nipped in the bud or you may have problems with them in other areas of obedience. This probably isn't true of dogs that just sorta nip at feet in play, but if they are genuinely stalking and attacking your feet aggressively, it's a warning sign.
Sam does this sometimes. Not when we are walking, only sitting with our feet up. And never when we have shoes on. He goes after sock or bare feet. He jumps at them, mouths (if given the chance to get them), then barks at us. He only seems to do it when he wants us to play with him.

At first, I tried to ignore him, but he kept coming at them. Now, when he does it, I make him sit, then down. After a bit, I have him roll over onto his back and rub his belly until he's completely calm. He loves belly rubs, so I wait to do it a little bit after the down. I hope that time in between is enough that he doesn't think the foot thing leads to a belly rub, but that being a good boy for the sit and down gets the reward.

Not sure if this is the best way to deal with it, but until we start with our new trainer, it's how I deal. If anyone has a better strategy, I'm game. And I'll let you know what our trainer says when we start with her.
A year and a half ago, I got a foster/to adopt OES. The first day I had her, she came after my fight foot and pinched it. 2nd day the same thing but a little harder. On the 3rd day, it was a full blown attack on my right foot and I wound up in Urgent Care with bleeding toes and permanent nerve damage. That was her freebe. I was constantly protecting my right foot. She could be very loving but would come after my foot with no provocation. The last straw was when she attacked Oliver. Rescue took her back and was going to have her put down. However, they checked her ears and she had rip roaring ear infections in both ears. I never saw any redness in or around her ears so I was stunned to hear the results. In all of my years of being owned by dogs, I never experienced that kind of behavior due to ears. Usually they would go after their ears scratching and making whining sounds. Once that was under control, she was a very loving sweet dog that went to a new home.
