I'd love to go- does any one have any experience attending an Olympic game? I'm wondering how expensive it is going to be- I'm thinking... very!!! Just wondering... Karen |

I've never gone, but it sure sounds exciting. And I love London!
Are you thinking group trip?? |
Perhaps a group of us could go, and stay with our British OES members???? We could see Fernie and Gair and Clipper and Pepe and Bob's mum and .... Actually, my friend and I starting talking this morning about going. Seven years will pass by quickly. |
I'm not much of a sports person, so I don't even watch it on tv....lol... |
am so pleased we got it and you would be welcome to come and stay with us in the cheshire countryside |
Sounds wonderful to go to the Olympics, especially
in London! We haven't been to the Olympics, but did go to the World's Fair in Vancouver, Canada and Lisbon, Portugal. Our advice, book early!!!!! PS-Cheshire is beautiful |
bob & missie says paula o you are welcome to come and stay as long as you promish lots of belly rubs |
I'm really excited- My sister and I are planning to surprise our parents with the gift of a trip to the olympics- as a sort of grown up family vacation! My, hubby, sister, parents and me! I think, if we have kids then- I'd probably leave them at home- the olympics will be very busy, and I'd be too worried about them getting lost etc. I don't think they let OES go to the olympics huh?
I've already been peeking at ticket prices for the 2006 winter games, so I can get a handle for what kind of expenses we might be looking at. If you want to go see olympic curling in Italy it's only 34$ for tickets! I'm not sure I'd WANT to go see curling- but 34$ tickets for an olympic event- not too shabby... Even the more popular events, you can generally get an individual ticket for under $100.00- except for the REALLY popular events like womens figure skating. They more in the couple of hundred dollar range. It's be really cool to go though!!! Maybe we could start a OES lovers of the world cheering section for the events Karen |
We were in Paris a few weeks ago when they were having the "tryouts" for the Olympics. Starting Saturday afternoon, they started closing down the Champs Elysees. No cars, no people....By Sunday, they recreated the whole Olympic Games, every venue was represented. Many of the sports were audience participating, my son got to wrestle with a team member (who luckily spoke English as my son doesn't parle Francais. Then he got a go at fencing. Complete with the mesh face shield, body shield and plastic sword. He was nervous with this one, I told him just to watch what everyone was doing and follow. He had the best time!
Congrats to London! |
I haven't, husband has. Tickets vary according to event. Opening ceremonies, closing, etc are most expensive, but important to the "overall experience." Little known events; fencing, etc are usually pretty inexpensive. Accomodations, well, there is the money. Closer to major venues, more expensive accomodations. Look for package tours, cultivate friendships in UK to be able to "bunk in" Plan on public transportation as much as possible.....always a good idea except for today |
