I think this was the best attended SheepieFest! yet. 23 dogs (YES, 23 dogs!) were there. Deborah made me take attendance. The weather was perfect--upper sixties, sunny, a bit of a breeze. Actually got a little chilly in the late afternoon. An abundance of food (I always worry there won't be enough, and we need deviled eggs next year. It's not a picnic without deviled eggs). Our silent auction raised close to $300 for Miidwest OES Rescue. There were a few bidding wars! I saw old friends and made new friends and gave this web address to several people. These dogs were there: Linus; Pirate, Lizzie and Kiera; Fozzie; Basil; Bentley; Winston; Asterisk and Levi; Rude Dog and Marley; Taylor and Izzie; Kodi; Teddy; Nelson; BeBe Bellini; BeBe (two dogs, almost the same name); Biggie and Bailey; Oakley; Sarge. I've given up trying to take a group shot. The dogs had a blast running around, getting pets and hugs, and trying to share human food (I didn't think dogs like Cheetoes!). P.S. Someone's masking tape ended up in my stuff. I think it's Amanda and Melissa's. A splendid time was had by all. |

Linus had a great time! (we did too!!) |
Of course they like Cheetos! Pseudo cheese and crunch.......and yellow powder to share with all! Maudie was ga-ga for Doritos...spicy taco flavoring of the 70's. Looking forward to lots of pictures! |
Glad it went well.... I was tempted to do the drive but this weekend was just too busy. If I come next year, count on me for the deviled eggs! They are my favorite! |
Great job putting this together you guys! Thank you again! We had a great time and also good job on the weather! I posted some pictures and a video of Teddy playing with BeBe. Cindy |

That is our masking tape...maybe just keep it with your SheepieFest "stuff" and bring it next year? Cuz even though we live a mile apart, it will be a year before I see you. Well, we'll see each other at the next Hackney's gathering, I hope. |
I think it really was the best SheepieFest yet!!! (Sans the deviled eggs! I can tell Paula is on a mission now!) it was great to get together. Here is a little secret for all of you.. Y'all think Paula and I spend hours planning this when the truth is, we pick a date, pick a place send out invites and let the whole event unfold...and it always unfolds so beautifully, because of the help we get from ya'll!!! So, a huge thank you to all the attendees!! |
OH!!!! PS: Yesterday I put a check in the mail to Nita at MOESR in the amount of: $325!!!! Nita is thrilled! Apparently they have had a particularly difficult year, losing money on all of the adoptions. |
I'm so glad we can help Nita and Nancy. There was at least one sheepie at SheepieFest!9 from Midwest OESR. I'm always afraid of 2 things with our event. That nobody will come, and that we will run out of food. Fortunately neither has ever happened. Everyone who attends is so enthusiastic about doing their part. I look forward to this great party every year. |
