Her name is Marilyn Shepherd from Ava, MO. I'm guessing her kennel name is Cedercrest, as Zeke's parents have that same name in their name. His father is Cedercrest Sebastian with a registration number of "GMV 7325-05". His mother is Cedercrest Catch A Wave with a registration number of "AKC LIT DL874137/01" Anyone ever hear anything about this woman or her kennel? Does anyone know what his parents registration numbers mean? |

Well, I did a search of "Cedercrest Old English Sheepdogs" in Google and the first hit is the following link, which happens to be one from the older form of OES.org. http://www.oes.org/page2/6477~MO_Puppy_Mill.html |
I always hate finding out stuff like that ...as I also did on the oes board, but who cares after the fact right? Your boy is wonderful. |
^^ Exactly right! Even if we had known this about him before we adopted him, we would have went thru with it anyways. |
It is what it is and he has had a good life so far. We preach doing research on breeders, asking the right questions and not being satisfied with "vet checked", all are "healthy", "never had a problem. There are specific tests for hear and eye as well as hips with certified results. We've discussed them before. That's not to say a reputable line can not have problems creep in. I know two that have had some ooops and one has stopped breeding that "branch" of the family. There is the point about reputable breeders, those that do their work, follow their lines and when problems occur, evaluate and let the good of the breed dictate, not pocketbook. Well if all pups were perfect and healthy, vets would have to resort to alternative income sources. After all, how many humans breed knowing their is some abnormalities in their pedigree as well. Zeke will be fine and happy to have to willing to take him in.....like there was any question (only in an Airedale's mind). |
As mentioned - it is what it is The registration of his dad is from some other registry besides AKC - it's not an AKC prefix or number sequence, for what it's worth. It's not like you are going to breed him and perpetuate his puppy mill roots. He's neutered. He's a beloved pet. He's lucky to be back at your house (and hope the mom is not booting all of you out!) and back with you and Brick. |
