I still like Whirlpool. Had them for years.....actually in 34 years have had 2 washers and maybe 3 dryers...all from Sears, Kenmores, back when Kenmore were made by Whirlpool. Now they are the LGs. In fact when we had the laundry room redone the foreman saw the washer and went, "Wow, we had one of these years ago, great machine, but with our kids we finally wore it out." Dryer is newer, also a Whirlpool, they don't have the same "face" but I don't care. I'm with you, nothing fancy, top mount. |
Mine are Amana - a good old workhorse commercial grade washer, and a Distinctions dryer. Both are heavily used and about 5 years old now. No complaints - they wash and dry dependably! |
Always had Kenmore until last purchase about 11 years ago. Got Maytag and really love both washer and dryer. Both used two to three times a week and still going strong. |
I also have Whirlpool and have been happy with them. I bought them both new in 1991 and still going strong. About 6 years ago I had to replace a small part on the agitator for $25.00. Other than that, no problems. On average I do a few loads a week. If I ever need to replace them, I'll go with Whirlpool again. Cindy |
I have Whirlpool as well. Love them. The washer goes every day and we have had no problems with it (I probably just jinxed myself). It's over 10 years old. |
We broke down and got front loaders in the new place because of having a built in closet laundry what was built specifically for front loaders. But our old ones were top loaders from inglis (a cheaper division of whirlpool) they were dependable, quiet-ish, very cost effective --I LOVED THEM. They ran constantly and never had a single issue. They had all the cycles you could possibly need and a sensor that switched off the dryer when your clothes were dry. |
Our space for the washer isn't very deep, so we couldn't get a front loader for this house. I know you aren't interested in HE washer, which the Whirlpool Cabrio is, but I love it. It is gentle on my sweaters (which I bag) and gets the clothes clean (which I don't think the front loader at the lake does very well). I love, love, love the timer so I have an idea on when to come back. We have a nice Samsung front loader at the lake, with the steam cycle. It takes forever to run a load, but the spin cycle really does halfway dry the clothes for you. |
