Coronation Street

I know it is only make believe, and that they are just actors playing a part, but I am so sad that Hayley Cropper will be leaving the Street. She and Roy have become very dear to me. I am going to bawl like a baby when the inevitable happens. I just hope that the folks in charge, with so many characters leaving, take the time to find characters that are more like the Corrie characters of old (and not yet another pretty woman with perfect hair, teeth, and figure!).

Oh, and since I am on the subject of Corrie, what is with people leaving nearly full pints and other drinks when they go home! There are people in Canada gasping for a proper pint and they just leave them there, undrunk! 8O

Kim, I have no idea who these people are on what street but you never fail to make me laugh.

Imagine, Canadians gasping for pints

Maybe they are weary of pints, and need something with more spirit(s)
Hasn't Coronation Street been on for decades? The first time I was in England in the 80s I got hooked on East Enders. I think that's still on the air.

Kim, I kow what you mean though. There are tv shows and movies I can't watch even though I tell myself "it's NOT REAL." I don't live in a fantasy world, but sometimes it is hard...

If they have a hang up about drinking in front of camera, have the person tip the glass, switch to another person, come back to first setting the glass down with a noticeable portion missing. Of course you assume that is real brew, often it is fake and not drinkable. Many can't stand the smell of warm brew (after scene set up and several takes, it could be stinky).
I don't know what the reason for leaving so many drinks is, but viewers in the UK have been complaining about it, for realism reasons. Alcohol in pubs in the UK is not cheap, and this show deals mainly with low-income working class people. It's just not realistic that they would so often order a pint and then get called away and leave it without even taking a sip!
Working class my backside - they should force the actors to stop going on holidays between shoots half the cast have a permanent deep brown tan from getting wasted in the Med', in the show the idea of holidays generally functions around a long weekend in the Lake District.

It's been running since 1960 by the way.

To me, the most unrealistic thing is the idea of a backstreet UK knickers factory with 6 workers can actually (exist in the first place) make enough profit to give the owners and seemingly 3-4 managers a good living.

This made me laugh
I love corrie, double episode tonight. The Hayley story is really poignant, I am hoping she just dies in between episodes as I dont think I will be able to stand the sadness .... :?

I have to make sure to have a large box of tissues before I watch Corrie these days. I love Hayley and Roy-they have always been favourites and I am going to cry buckets when she dies.

I had the fun experience recently of watching Corrie with my mum, who uses close captioning (one day she promises to get a hearing aid). Seeing how a Canadian close caption machine mangled the Manchester English was so fun! So many extra 'r's in many words! When Tyrone speaks, gibberish comes out of the close caption text. Just another layer of enjoyment provided by Coronation Street!
last nights was sad again.. :(
